My first FFG purchase (A review of sorts)

Alsih2o, congratulations on jumping into the wonder of third-party books! :)
There is some great stuff out there.

Macbeth, have fun with Portals and Planes. I have avoided commenting much in Psion's thread because he and I are using some similar cosmology ideas. But if you have a chance to read through the entire book, and since you are probably the only other person in the group that will look at the thread, I might start contributing more. :)

I have several books that I am waiting to receive from FFG. I can't wait for Monster's Handbook and Darkness & Dread. There are a couple of others, but those are my two big ones. I already have many of the FFG books. It would be a shame to see the Legends & Lairs type books disappear, but if those are the realities of the marketplace, I certainly wish FFG the best.

Alas FFG has a problem with their shipping prices... $22 dollars to Canada is their minimum. Anyone know why that is?

I purchased Portals and Planes, Dungeoncraft, and Monster's Handbook on Monday. No confirmation email or anything yet. I hope to see them next week sometime...

I was going to pick up Cityworks, Traps and Treachary II, and Seafarer's Handbook, but I didn't want to spend anymore Christmas cash. Alas, alas...

I placed an order on Dec 9th and received it on Dec 16th. I chose UPS Ground shipping and I am very happy with the purchase. :)

Since I had none of the Legends & Lairs books to begin with, I decided to buy one of everything. Wow.... now I have a lot of books to thumb through!

In addition to this purchase I am off to my FLGS today to pick up some Midnight books I ordered. As Crothian suggests, perhaps I will read some of these books with an eye towards posting a review. It can't hurt to try.

Midnight is still steaming ahead.

Unfortunate, however, since I really have no interest in running a midnight game.

Unfortunate? Egads man....

Everyone's got their own opinion but...

Midnight rocks :) (IMO) I'm sure that FFG isn't going anywhere...they're just regrouping, I would think.

What is it for shipping in the U.S? Keep in mind that, aside from paying high shipping to get it into Canada, you also have to pay a brokerage fee to bring it across the border. So much for free trade....it always was a cop-out..:(

You're better off seeing if you have any relatives who work or live in the U.S., and ship it to them.

I've been a huge fan of the FFG Legends and Lairs series since it came out. I didn't pick up anything in the sale since I bought all the books at my FLGS as they came out, but I can honestly say its some of the best money I've ever spent on d20 stuff. I use their books all the time, get great ideas from them, and haven't found them to be unbalanced at all. And as alsih20 said, the artwork is incredible. Its a shame they are getting out of the Legends and Lairs line, because NO other publisher does themed books better than FFG. At least I still have Midnight for my FFG fix.
