I need a 14th level (or so) character for a one-shot this weekend. However since I have been busy all week, I don't really have anything yet other than his stats and the idea that I would like him to be a type of conjurer who specializes in Summoning spells. The details are as follows:

str 12
dex 14
con 17
int 16
wis 12
cha 13

95,000 xps total (in case magic items are created or permanencies are cast)

150,000 GPs total money of which only 100,000 can go towards magic items and you cannot spend more than 27,500 on a single magic item. 1 use items are 5 times as expensive and charged items are full value but only have 1/5 the charges.

3.5 Core books and FR campaign book only.

Anybody want to try and create an awesome Summoner for me from this? :D

Firstly why only 17? If I was doing 17, I'd put it in either Int, Wis, or Cha. Summoning should be something like Thamurturge(sp). Cleric of Shar perhaps or divine disciple of shar. Either would be better.

The DM had us roll 5d6, drop 2, IN ORDER. Which is why I am going with a wizard. ;)

If you don't have time to build a character, don't plan on using a conjurer. A conjurer takes a bit of time to get ready. You need to figure out which creatures you'll summon, what their stats will be after augment summoning, what their stats will be after applying certain spells, etc ... You either must do this in advance, or you'll slow the game down by having to do it on the spot. If you're not going to spend the time in advance, it is rude to play a summoner and keep all your friends waiting while you get your monsters ready.

Second, if you are going to put in the time to be a summoner, consider a druid rather than a wizard. Spontaneous summoning druids can be very effective. Their elementals are strong from the get-go. Their animals are pretty decent - but become insane when you toss in animal growth. In addition, you get your animal companion and animal form to contribute to the battle in progress. A single druid character can assemble an army of huge monsters rather quickly. There are few enough core feats that really help a conjurer that you don't need the extra wizard feats to get them all by 14th level.

Sounds great, but I am kinda stuck with these numbers. However, you make a good point about conjurers have a lot of prep required.

Ok, then assuming we keep a wizard due to the numbers, and assuming we are not stucck with a conjurer, what would you do with the options provided? I am really open to to anything. I just want to play a cool character not just a standard generic wizard.

Thanks for any help.

Those stats could fit a Elven Rogue quite easily. 16 as the prime stat is perhaps less than desirable, but put two ability bonuses into Dex, and the third into Con, and you have a fairly hardy elven rogue.

As for what kind of style you want to go for... rogues can run the gamut. And it doesn't really have to be straight rogue. Fighter/Rogue concentrating on quickness can be a very good, if not front line, fighter.

Or you could easily go Arcane Trickster... 3 rogue / 5 wiz / 6 AT. I'm about to hit the sack... the build won't take as long as a conjurer, but spellbook selection will still eat time.

This is a link to a 12th level wizard I made with 3.5 and FR books rules. Though you'd have to change some of the skill points and hit points and add some more gold, it might work for you. Tell me what you think!

Darn it! I typed up a long msg for you but thru a series of bad key strokes, and impatience, I lost it. :(

Bascially what I had said was a loved the character and the items and the familiar but was wondering if the pistol competed with her spells in the crucial first round of combat?

Go to www.thegamehub.com and in the upper rioght hand corner select wizard and then browse through the countless number of wizards that other people have made and then print out the one you want.

Have fun and enjoy.
