Suffice to say, I'll never make the same mistake (pre-ordering) again.
I think it's worth pointing out that the preorder thing, though it obviously had its drawbacks, did have a silver lining: those of us who got in on it have helped you see things before release that otherwise probably would have escaped you (and everybody) until afterward. Things such as that player of mine who found the Anyfeat/Spell Knowledge loophole, figuring out what actions activate the various abilities, and other errata pointed out in the Fix This thread have helped Ascension come together in a cohesive and very tight system, even better than the already-high-quality Bestiary work. Despite all the grief I and others have given you over the last year, we really do want to see you produce the best product possible. :) It helps you and us.

Doing a genuine "pre-pay and get unfinished releases" thing may not be something you want to do in the future- certainly that's understandable- but some kind of system whereby you show several others the unfinished books while they're works-in-progress may be worth retaining from this episode.

Agreed...I love the Pre-order idea, even if it did have drawbacks. It was great fun. And being able to help in some small way was quite the learning experience. Mayhaps someday I'll do a small monster PDF and have everyone here help me out on it. Though that wont be for many years to come. :) I have much to learn still.

Even with the problems of the pre-order, I'd do it again and again. As long as it were Krusty's material. It's worth it.

I can't believe I didn't notice this before.

Divine Right needs a cap or other controls. It's not crazily broken by IH standards as long as you have a normal religion worshipping an immortal. However, as written there's nothing preventing pandeists, transtheists, panendeists or Haruhi forbid panentheists deriving full benefit from the feat.

It also has the nightstick cheese problem, but that's part of the existing CoDzilla problem rather than a flaw with the IH itself.

Hey paradox42! :)

Well I think pdfs in general help. Allowing you to spot errata before a book goes to print. So thats how it worked with the Bestiary as well.

I'll see how things progress with Gods & Monsters. I am sure it will be available early to those who preordered Ascension. Though I don't expect updates every ten days. Maybe every month (and I plan to work on the Gods & Monsters art right after the Ascension art. So don't expect an update of Gods & Monsters for a while yet.

Hey dante dude! :)

I appreciated the help from everyone.

I don't know if that would work, I think people like their monsters to be a good range of sizes, not just small.

Although I like the name: "The Tiny Bestiary" - it could even be pocket sized. :p

Rule 1: Don't use the word mayaps.
Rule 2: Don't have seperate monster entries for saltwater and freshwater variants of the same monster.

Isn't that feat limited by the clerics Wisdom modifier?

Okay, you lost me at nightstick cheese.

I wasn't, myself. You're in high gear on Ascension itself with the art and all. But making G&M the test subject for this notion sounds like a good plan- even though monsters generally don't cause rules or system problems on their own. ;)

Good day.

Persistent server trouble. The admins are trying to arrange a move to a new server at the moment, but until then we'll have regular downtime issues.

Not as written. That's what I would lean towards as a solution.

Okay, you lost me at nightstick cheese.
AFAIK, the Nightstick is an expendable item that gives you extra turn attempts, from Libris Mortis I think. It's abused to fuel powers like Divine Metamagic and other abilities that depend on limited numbers of turning attempts to be balanced, since for a highish-level character they're dirt cheap.

Shield Focus...what the hell is Shield Focus from?

I've looked in a lot of my books but I cant seem to find it. Is is 3.0 material that was replaced by Shield Specialization? Because I cant even find references to it.

It's listed as a prerequisite for a feat in Ascension.

Completely unrelated topic...has anyone seen this? It's an interesting site.

Thanks Phantom Llama - I'll be sure and make those changes to Divine Right in a moment.

You know, I could have sworn I saw a Shield Focus feat somewhere on my travels. It increased your shield bonus by +1.

ie. A medium shield would give +3 to Ac instead of +2.
