Order of the Big Red Bear OOC Reunion Thread

This thread is for out of character discussion. I'll edit this post to include links to an in character thread once we've got a bit more organized. The Rogue's Gallery thread is the place to post character sheets.

As a reunion game, we are not recruiting at this time.

Please consider what kind of character you want to play and post a brief description. To keep the playing field even, we will be restricting character creation to rules posted in the System Reference Document.

We'll start with 1st level characters, 32 point buy. House Rule: Only one prestige class per character, tops. Point buy works as follows: All six start at 8, raising up to 14 costs one point per attribute point. Getting to 15 or 16 costs 2 points each. Getting to 17 or 18 costs 3 points each. Therefore, for example, it would cost you 16 points (half your total) to get an 18 in one stat. Racial modifiers are applied last, so an elf who spends 16 points on dex and no points on con would wind up with a 20 dex and a 6 con -- lightning fast but likely to die of a cold if caught outside in a light rain.

Greetings and salutations!

I'm here! Being a reunion type, I am going to play a druid though I don't have the particulars set yet. One question I do have is what do you think of letting an 8 year old girl play with us? Xinyuan has been playing D&D with me for a few months now, and playing NWN for a year. A 'no' is fine if we want to keep it an adult/reunion only game but I thought I would ask.

Mark

Xinyuan is very welcome! Nice to meet you, Xinyuan.

(Alas, Brielle and Gryphon are too young to play, as yet. But we're working on it!)

I'm thinking of taking the first adventure for this campaign from Dungeon issue #92 (which has a picture of a githyanki on the cover). If you think there is a chance you've played it allready, let me know and I'll pick something else.

My limited experience with D&D 3.x is 3.0, not 3.5. I don't have the 3.5 books; I hope that won't be a problem. (It looks like the SRD has the "meat" of the rules, including the 3.5 changes.)

There is no chance whatsoever that I've played the adventure from Dungeon #92.

I contemplate playing a Sorceror, although I'll wait to commit 'til I see what everyone else wants to do. Or, if we want that real reunion feel, I suppose I should go with a thief . . .

Play whatever you like. :-)

If you want to combine the two, check out the Arcane trickster prestige class. I tried a Wizard/Rogue/Arcane Trickster once and was pretty happy with him...

Ted and Steve have told me they are both swamped at the moment, and have suggested we start and they will jump in when they are able. Possibly everyone else can start posting character sheets into the rogues gallery thread in the meantime?

I have this vague feeling that we're missing someone else . . . Wilbur? Leslie? Paul?

Is there anything you want to say about the gameworld before we jump in and provide characters?

If you can get ahold of Wilbur, Leslie or Paul please invite them. I have been unable to do so.

I'm going to go with the default World of Greyhawk setting, unless I hear a strong desire for something more elaborate. Fastest way to get started. If you have any questions, let me know.

I have forwarded the relevant email to Leslie, for whom I have a valid email address. I don't think I have a current address for Wilbur or Paul.

I don't remember much about Greyhawk, but I don't know whether it matters. I don't need to integrate character background (such as it is) tightly into the gameworld.
