Order of the Big Red Bear OOC Reunion Thread

enworld user interface question

I'm a bit puzzled about how the enworld threading mechanism works:

- There doesn't seem to be a way to post a message on a thread except by replying to an existing message

- The "Threaded" and "Hybrid" Display Modes seem to be useless -- they hide certain messages (I'm not sure which ones) without providing a way to access them.

- There looks like there's supposed to be some kind of mechanism ("subscription"?) for getting notification of new postings on a thread, but it doesn't seem to do anything.

Scott, am I missing something?

I always press quote or reply, depending on whether I want it to bundle up a prior post in quote marks for me. I've never used different display modes, so I haven't the slightest idea what they do (if you want to ask someone else, there is a meta forum for board related issues.) Subscription works great! To see your subscribed threads with recent activity, hit "My Account." There's a link there to see all subscribed threads, too.

Don't worry too much about blending your character into the camaign world. I'm not attached to Greyhawk "cannon" at all, and am only vaguely familiar wih the various nations and cities. Things in greyhawk tend to seem vaguely familiar to me, since many of the old classic modules were set there (so if you played Temple of Elemental Evil, Homlet probably sounds familiar.) If you want a more detailed & cooler world, we could use Eberron instead... I actually have the Eberron worldbook, and I don't have any such for greyhawk. The only significant effect on character creation I can think of is that Clerics (who are very cool in 3.x) will want to pick a God that matches the setting. Since no one has as yet expressed interest in a cleric, and since Druids only occasionally pick a nature god rather than nature itself, I wouldn't worry about it.

I (finally) noticed that. But somehow I got the impression that subscription was supposed to send email notification?

Just remembered someone else we seem not to have invited: Jenn.

The srd seems to be missing the "experience and level-dependent benefits" table (for experience, feats, and ability increases) and the "skills" table (for identifying class-exclusive skills). [I'm not clear on why the srd chooses to omit some rules.] Can I just use PHBv3 for this?

3.5 eliminated class exclusive skills. All skills are now class skills or cross class skills.

Xp requirements, character level based feats, and ability score increases by character level are all the same as in 3.0.

Also, feel free to invite Jenn if you have a valid e-mail for her.

Ack. New DA in town, and they are hiring away my people in droves! If anyone knows someone who would be interested in prosecuting criminal cases in Colorado, let me know!

It's been a while, now. Anyone planning to post a character?
