Alternatly you could allow dave to move in, but ban the girl, but that probably wouldn't be PC.

not necessarily. i think the only time it was ever not under my control is when i forgot that she has no legitimate control over the situation, except that which she can use by pulling the puppet strings on my roommate. when i uncovered her deception about the real reason i was being asked to move out, i think she lost all hope of getting what she wants.
