Solace wakes, and stands quickly. She reaches for the hand crossbow and some bolts.

OOC: Interrupting Long Rests.
CB: so I understand that any fighting interrupts a long rest (I've seen people dispute that, but I agree that's both the meaning and the intention of the rule.) Does that mean that if we do not participate in this fight, we could still benefit from the long rest? If that were so, then it may be strategic for only some of us to engage in the fight. Just thinkin' out loud, here.

Raza pushed herself up against the wall to keep herself out of the way of any of the others who might want to join the fray. She certainly didn't want to be trampled by Kago as he rushed to battle. She quietly invoked her magic, conjuring fire in her hand. Maybe the light would reach and benefit Brinn. She would stay where she was, not wanting to inadvertently tread upon Kamael's caltrops.

OOC: Raza cast produce flame and flattened herself to the wall. Next up is Solace, [MENTION=23484]Kobold Stew[/MENTION]! Although I just opened up the discussion to the field in the OOC re: interruptions to long rests, I want to proceed for this encounter as if the long rest has been interrupted. If it turns out we do something different in the future, no problem, but for now the benefit of this long rest is gone.

In that case, Solace moves to l6 (=30'?) [move]
then to P7 (=30') [bonus action Dash - cunning action]
and casts light on all at Q7 [action; range=touch]
 

Bright light from Raza's produce flame and Solace's light spells flooded the narrow passageway. Even with the aid of the light, however, His Highness lurked in the inky dark of the tunnel outside the light's reach.

OOC: The red square with the circle is the square containing Kamael's caltrops. There is another similar set of caltrops 30' forward of Kago's present position in E5 that is off the map. I apologize, but I misspoke earlier this evening when I responded to KS and said attacks against Derendil suffer disadvantage because Derendil is standing in darkness. That is not the case. Now that I'm not on the road traveling home and am able to reference my PHB, I recall that a character with darkvision will treat darkness as dim light. Attacks made in dim light do not suffer disadvantage. Only Wisdom (Perception) checks suffer disadvantage in dim light. PHB 183. Conversely, a character without darkvision attempting to attack a creature in darkness treat the creature as if the attacker effectively suffers the blinded condition. PHB 183 and 290. I will add a tidbit about this to the originating post in the OOC. It's been asked and answered frequently enough that it merits permanently noting so that when we forget we know where to go to look. [MENTION=23484]Kobold Stew[/MENTION], if you would like Solace to do something other than move and cast light, let me know and I'll make it happen; it's an easy retcon, in this case. Kago stands and sprints down the corridor toward the action.

OOC: How is it that Kago managed to fall asleep on his watch, anyway? Lazy-ass orcs.. Anyway, using the Dash action, and spending 15 ft. of movement to stand up from prone should get me to square P8 (or O8 if there's not room to stand next to Solace), whereabouts Kago can do absolutely nothing except stand there and wipe the drool from his face. If, for some reason, Kago can't move that direction, He'll focus his attention on the opposite side of the line while the others take care of whatever it is they're taking care of.
 

Solace thinks she can get a clear shot, and raises the hand crossbow after moving, and fires and reloads.

OOC: If there's a shot, to hit = [roll0]. If hit, damage = [roll1] piercing (including sneak attack).
