D&D 5E (2014) Out of the Abyss IC

Shuushar nodded at Kamael and made the offer to the kuo-toa on the ledge. And exchange passed between the two, with a very long uncomfortable pause before the kuo-toa spoke. [sblock=Undercommon]Shuushar: "The sorcerer will incapacitate his weapons and spell pouch. We have but recently been held by drow at Velkynvelve, to our ill health and detriment. Surely you recognize the will of free folk not to be bound?"

Kuo-Toa: "We will collect any weapons you have. The witcher will surrender his spell pouch to our care. You will not be bound, but you will be blindfolded. The village has been set upon in recent years, and we would not have surface dwellers knowing the way to our settlement. We will present you to the elders. The decision remains theirs as to your welcome in Sloobludop."[/sblock]

Shuushar translated in Common. "They will compromise by blindfolding us. Our hands and legs will remain unbound. But we must surrender our weapons for the time being, and Kamael must surrender his spell pouch." Shuushar eyed Raza, Kago, and Solace, but said nothing.

OOC: I added +2 to Kamael's Persuasion check for the reference to captivity, which resonates with the kuo-toa (as Kamael knows) due to their former enslavement at the hands of illithids. Kago's turn, [MENTION=23298]industrygothica[/MENTION]. We will finish out Round 2 (the round we're currently on), then I'll make a decision whether more combat rounds are needed or if we can be done with rounds and post at will.

Kago tightens his grip on his hammer and shifts forward toward the offending kuo-toa. He growls, but stays his hand... for now.

OOC: Essentially, Kago passes this turn. However, RP-wise, I can't see him volunteering to give up his weapons without a good reason. The possibility of maybe being not killed in a fish-man city is not a good reason... at least not when he can just turn around and go somewhere else. But I'll concede to the group decision here.

Solace remains in the shadows, unable to communicate with her colleagues, but appalled at the thought of surrendering willingly. If others yield, she will follow at a distance, attempting to stay hidden. If one of the others in the party reveal her presence, she will retreat 90'/turn (move, dash, dash). She is not being taken.

Raza Thulcandra

Raza stared blankly at Kamael then shrugged. Her eyes sought out the others, Brinn and Kago especially, but skimmed past Solace so as not to give up her hiding place. She remained where she stood near the kuo-toan guard; the Mother Night would not have brought them here only to have them return to wandering. It was a test.

"The reed that cannot bend, breaks."

[sblock=OOC]Raza is going with the kuo-toa.

Round 1

As the group members discussed whether to accept the offer of a blindfold from the kuo-toa, the creatures on the ledge and behind Kamael's bonfire stood passively, awaiting decision. Time slowed. Somewhere, the inexorable drip of water falling into a shallow pool echoed through the passageway. Turvey skittered forward and tugged at Raza's sleeve, eager to tell her something. As he did, two objects in her bundle of rags collided. The tink of metal in her bundle was followed a beat later by a fizzing sound, then a loud pop. Her bundle burst into flame.

OOC: Turvey is in K8. Kuo-Toa 1 is no longer on the ledge (it left a bit earlier in another post). Roll initiative, all of you.
