Prismatic Ray

What level spell would it be to cast a ray that would be a single color of a prismatic spray? Save required, no attack roll, caster gets to choose the color. Then again, if I remember correctly, if the caster gets to choose the color a red ray would be quite rare.

So, what say you?

it wouldn't be prismatic spray anymore...

It would be either acid blast, flesh to stone, lightning bolt, insanity, etc.

To me 1/2 the reason its cool is the randomness of what happens

If you have access to the Player's Guide to Faerûn, check out the Prismatic Eye 6th-level wizard spell in there.

Your suggestion would still be 7th level.

There's already a spell called prismatic ray in complete arcane but it doesn't quite do what you want The colour that hits the character is still random and also the chance to be sent to another plane is missing. This spell is 5th level
