Quick Question on Fighter Build

Is it the general consensus that giving up weapon fighter talent is well worth the benefits of the battlerage vigor build (or whatever it's called). I would probably wear scale, so I wouldn't get the benefits from light/chain armor - is it still worth it to get have those extra temp hit points, you think?

Depends what you're aiming for, but I believe since the Battlerager was errata-ed, it is no longer the stand-out choice. Given the recent polls, Guardian and Great Weapon are considered better defenders.

Ah, thanks. I hadn't reviewed the errata, but it makes my choice easier. I'd rather have a Guardian anyway (old school sword and board kinda guy), but didn't to handicap myself and end up underpowered and dead.

Another quick question, while I'm at it.. I'm playing a human using 22-point buy. Is anything dramatically flawed about this distribution - if my goal is good defender, but decent other skills too. I took perception and thievery as my feats and want to get learned caster or expertise at levels 2 and 4. I'm aiming for kind of a tomb raider type fighter that can do a bit of this and a bit of that - without totally compromising his ability to be a defender. Charisma's not great, but I get the defender bonus on some of those categories, so it works out ok. I'm not the sort that goes around trying to intimidate or bluff people all that much anyway.

Str 18 +4
Con 14 +2
Dex 14 +2
Int 10
Wis 14 +2
Ch 8 -1

I'd drop a point of Con in trade for a point of Dex if you're going to use heavy blades.

Vice-versa if you're planning to use hammers.

You're probably fine if you're going to use axes, unless you plan on taking Brash Strike.

Can't really make up my mind on the axe vs heavy blade route. Part of me wants to stick with heavy blade, but part of me wants to throw a big meat clever (battle axe stats) in his hand.

Isn't this a 24 point build? You'll need to drop one of those 14s down to a 13 if you want it to be 22; I'd recommend Con, but it'll depend on what else you want to do with it.

You cannot take learned spellcaster with this build, because you need a 13 in Int as a prerequisite. If it's the casting ability you wanted, take Ritual Caster; if it's the Skill training, take one of those.

With this multiclass out of the running, consider taking a Ranger multiclass (Warrior of the Wild or Two-Blade Warrior) instead of skill training in Perception, or Rogue multiclass Sneak of Shadows instead of skill training in Thievery. You'll still get the skills, and a little extra. Depending on your particular vision of your Tomb Raider character concept, I could see an edge of Ranger or Rogue fitting right in.

Eh, that's right. Looked at alot of numbers. Feel like an accountant sometimes. Thanks for pointing that out.

That's true too, haha. I was working with two concepts simultaneously and mixing/matching them.

I would definitely do a Ranger or Rogue multiclass with Learned Caster out of the mix.

Assuming I reduce Con, I can keep Dex up to help bolster my reflex, initiative, thievery skills and maybe stealth later (when I get that). I suppose this means I also need heavy blade rather than axe, eh?

16 (+2 = 18), 14, 14, 13, 10, 8 would indeed be legal.

You might also consider picking up a background for one of those two skills and a multiclass feat for the other, if you're unimpressed with the fighter skill list.

Dungeoneering would seem like a must for a "tomb raider" type.
