I'll take a stab at that:

Human Monk 9/Duellist 1

10 base
+2 from dex
+2 from wis
+1 from unnamed monk bonus
+2 from Int (Canny Defense)
+1 Dodge
+3 fighting defensively with 5 ranks in tumble
+5 Combat Expertise
(+4 mobility)

26 (30)

Duelist is limited to 1 point of canny defense per class level. You can get into Duelist as early as 9th level, though, so taking an extra level of that shouldn't hurt.

You need Dodge, Mobility, and Weapon Finesse for Duelist. As a human, that's your 1st, 1st, and 3rd-level feats. 6th and 9th can be Two-Weapon Fighting and Two-Weapon defense! Wait, no, Dex 14 doesn't qualify for those, and I forgot Combat Expertise at 6th level anyway. Blast.

If you use the Broadblade Shortsword in Complete Adventurer, that's good for an additional +2 dodge bonus when fighting defensively.

BTW, as to the first little quiz:

A human rogue could take combat expertise and improved trip at level 1. Make a trip attack. (Attack 1). If you succeed, your opponent falls prone, and you get an additional attack from Improved Trip (Attack 2). Your opponent then attempts to stand up, still during that round, provoking an attack of opportunity (Attack 3). You *then* make a trip attack (this is attack 3), and trip him, gaining (you guessed it), a free attack (attack 4).

More attacks at a lower level.

You cant make a trip attack as the AoO for attack 3, as it takes place before he stands up.

Hmm. We end up running it that you can, but we may have been using that so long that I'd forgotten if it was a house rule. Well, still gets to three attacks in a round.

Alright. 42 spells in one round:

[SBLOCK]20th-level wizard with the Simulacrum spell makes 20 duplicates of him- or herself, which all cast one normal and one quickened spell; the other two are cast by the wizard. :p[/SBLOCK]

*nod* Yeah, because the AoO takes place before the provoking action completes, you can't re-trip on the AoO caused by standing - at the point the AoO happens the guy is still prone and thus can't become somehow even more tripped than he already is. :D
