D&D 5E Rebalancing melee weapon damage.

I'm with you on the idea that I don't think Dex is an actual problem. But telling that to people who do is a bit like telling people who hate chocolate that they are wrong.
More like telling people who hate chocolate that they don't have to eat chocolate if they don't want to.

I keep hearing this "Dex rules everything" claim, and the claim that we need to "fix" things to help Strength characters. And it continues to utterly ring false for my experience...which at this point is pretty darn extensive for this game. Too many things grapple or shove or otherwise require an opposed strength check in this game. Spells, monsters, effects, so many things. Pretending those things are hand-waived because all you're counting is DPR or something is unrealistic. Same with armor - you can pretend in a vacuum that all you need is light or medium armor, but in practice if you're playing in a published adventure (and it would appear many MANY people are) you're GOING to find magic heavy armor that some is GOING to want to use and which will require a higher strength. You know what you're unlikely to find in that published adventure? A magic rapier.

My point is, in practice Strength based characters do just as well as dex-based ones in this edition, regardless of what you think it should be on paper.
