Just out of curiosity, exactly how long ago was it when the ogres arrived in Fomor? I'm assuming that they left (or were defeated) along with the fall of The Evil One, ten years ago? Just trying to get a solid feel for the time line if I decide to do a narrative.

Thanks!

The ogres came over during the rise of The Evil One from the continent of Thano, and during that war, almost all of the dwarves and goliaths were driven out of the mountains. Those who left formed a village for other exiles named Weston.

Twenty years later, the ogres sided with Lord Hood against an insurrection of The Evil One's forces and were slaughtered by agents of The Evil One for their rebellion. Thus, the ogres died about 80 years ago, and Fomor was slowly taken back by the dwarves who'd remained in the mountains.

These days, about 1/3 dwarves live in the mountains, while the other 2/3 live in Black Lake Proper or Weston

Congratulations to Rathan for being the first to gain a Hero Point! That was a great story, and gave us all a little bit of understanding into the character. Great job, pal.

By the way, I wish the forum wouldn't edit bad language.

EDIT: Thomas also has scored a Hero Point! Don't forget, you only have until noon tomorrow to tell your story.

I must say DF the homework assignment thing is a real winner of an idea it allows us as RP'ers to show what verbal might we bring to the table! It also allows us to mold more of a history for our characters giving them tons of depth. I'm looking forward to reading what everyone else has to offer in the future plus looking forward to coming up with more for Doren in the future as well! :)

I say we give the DM a hero point for the idea!

To Phaezen: Don't worry about drawing inferences. If something is way out of line, I'll let you know, but the key thing is to have fun with it.

To Rathan: Thanks a lot! I really appreciate the support, and I'm really quite satisfied with what you all have come up with.

Additionally, you each now have 1 Hero Point.

And so do I! Wee!

I'll post back in here once I've reread everything and posted responses.

Time to level up!

Congratulations, everybody. I'm going to send you right on up to level 3. This is for a number of reasons.
1. You successfully completed two high-level combats.
2. You progressed the plot in significant ways.
3. Everybody roleplayed well and earned a Hero Point.

Please edit your character sheet for you own records. I will request that you post a bit of information in this thread, though.

1. Your new feat.
2. Your level 2 utility power.
3. Your level 3 encounter power.
4. Any retraining you may be doing.
NOTE: If you're going to retrain something, please give it some mention in-character, ok?

Congratulations, everybody, on an excellent first act!

The power of The Four surge through there mortal vessel. When Torath awakes he can still feel their touch upon him.

I think adding a LVL up sblock to our character sheets might prove useful as well. I just hope Torath is a more potent combatant after leveling up I didn't do much but take it on the chin from Torath. Hmmm... maybe that is it I should go all out defense and leave the combat to everyone else. A paladin does draw attention after he marks someone. :p

Observation- One potential drawback to rapid leveling (as fun as it can be) is that character level and magic item alotment can easily get out of whack. In a game like D&D, where magic item development is actually mathematically designed into the challenge system, that could be an issue.

There is a variant rule about scaling 'inherent' bonuses to attack and damage that replace the enhancement bonuses from items, thus removing the math from the magic...this rule is supported in the character generator, in fact.

Alternatively, as long as we have periodic access to new lootz, it should be manageable. Just be aware, in general, if we're overdue for a lootdrop while assigning encounters, as we'll be behind the power curve for our level if we are.
