Recruiting for Ongoing 3.5 Wildwood game

Looks good Brazeku.

Here's a couple feat suggestions:
Touch of Healing (Reserve, Complete Champion)
Plant Devotion (Domain, Complete Champion)

And here's the Aspect of Nature wildshape variant Voadam was talking about.

It's a pretty serious power-down from Wildshape though. I'd suggest changing the 1min/level duration to 1hr/lvl to bring it back into line.

Ya know, this kind of reminds me of a druid I made a long time ago who was a member of a druidic sect founded by a circle of treants. They had awakened long-living trees in their grove called Memory Trees, who's job was to be told things, and to remember them. Potentially forever. The treants were powerful, but didn't stray from the forest, so they founded a druidic order that would roam the world, looking for signs of danger to the balance, and communicate periodically (via a network of Animal Messengers, complete with 'relay stations' manned by a treant that would recieve incoming messages and transfer them to a new messenger to extend the effective range of the spell) with the main grove. These communications would then be remembered by the Memory Trees.

All this was in reaction to a distant event in the past that almost destroyed the ecosphere, and the treants appointed themselves 'guardians' to ensure it didn't happen again.

Anyway, I was just thinking, if you wanted to flesh out this treant thing, it might be fun to include that "pony express" of animal messengers to keep a big, dispersed network of druids in touch with each other.

I like the Chiao

The Chiao have 2 racial HD and +1 LA (ECL 3), meaning they're out-of-reach for the moment...

They probably *should* be either 2HD+0LA or 1HD+1LA though, they're on the weak side for ECL 3.

Actually that is within reach, since there are the options for free +1 LA. Now that the campaign is at level 2 anything with 2 HD and sufficiently low LA can be an option.

Essentially I am running based on party HD with LA/Gestalt/Point buy variations and not based off of ECL with one base point buy.

I consider the humanoid HD an NPC class though, so this gives a few options.

1 take the 48 point buy and forever be restricted to NPC classes (including the option to continue advancing by humanoid HD).

2 40 point buy, start with just the 2 humanoid HD and later advance in character classes

3 32 point buy gestalt with the 2 humanoid HD and 2 PC class levels always having one half of the gestalt limited to NPC classes.

4 24 point buy gestalt 2 humanoid HD and 2 PC class levels but be able to gestalt with full classes at level 3.

5 go with lower point buy options from above but adding on an additional LA template

Oh, right, I forgot about that part. :heh:

With gestalt and point-buy/LA-buyoff it doesn't look so bad. (still weak at ECL 3 in a normal game though)

Actually not that bad compared to the other 2HD LA +1 that I can think of, though all of them are pretty weak for ECL 3.

Lizardfolk characters possess the following racial traits.

Pyrex: Oh yeah, touch of healing would be my 4th level feat for sure. There's another feat that allows me to add light fortification to healing spells for free, I was considering taking that, but I don't know how useful 25% immunity to sneak attack/crits actually is.

As for wildshape, upon reflection, the ability to turn from a passive milquetoast into a huge plant beast is too hilarious an image. So it's more or less decided I'm going to go standard. Plus the advantages of being an 'improved grab' beast like a tendriculos with improved grapple from my own feats is pretty sweet.

Shayuri: I like the idea of being a roving servant of the forest, it gives a druid a good reason to travel. Given his partially monkish abilities, it would make sense that a character like mine would be chosen to go on a slightly martial quest, even if he got cold feet.

Voadam: I actually just looked at your IC thread right now and saw that the party is talking to a plant-based druid. Bizarrely enough, that's pure synchronicity; I was just riffing off the 'Wildwood' name. If you're okay with my concept and I get accepted, I suppose I could be connected to that fellow in some fashion - it seems natural. Although whatever works best, of course.
