Again with the nekkid spellcaster ladies.

I swear, the only real beef I had with R&R1 was the part about magic creating body heat. I'd note that every picture of the female spellcasters made with the body showing, but all the male casters were covered up.

Suspicious. ;)

well speaking for the male community of people who spend alot of time reading books as opposed to outside getting exercise. i do not care how uncomfortable it was, you could not get me to take off my clothes to cast a spell. :D

You say that now. But when someone casts the spell Mesos Vengeance, you'll think differently. Besides you also get endure elements for FREE! :)

Btw, thanks Grraf for showing up! I have posted my review folks of R&R2. I hope you find it informative!

Dark, Crothy, I'm sure you'll find a copy of R&R2 in your stores. If I got, no reason to think no one else won't get it!

How much does it cost?

And BTW, Nightfall, how often do you get to game in the Scarred Lands, or is all your time spent pimping SL online? ;)

Do they (S&SS) send you free stuff? Well, they probably should.

Read Magic of Faerun and tell ME that's more balanced. *crosses his arms* I'm sorry but while the spells MIGHT have been a Tad powerful there's now way they are as bad as Mestil Acid Sheeth.

[/B]

I didn't have to ban Magic of Faerun from my game, though. R&R I had more than its share of issues. I'm hoping R&R II will be easier to integrate to a non-Scarred Lands campaign.

This is true Duncan. But thankfully most druids and clerics keep their clothes ON!

You missed all those pics of wood elf initiates in the earlier books, then? I swear, I thought I was reading a Mongoose book for a sec... :o

I'll check Voad. I haven't looked very closely at the spells. Just the magic items and the other sections. I will look however Voad. Btw on the S&SS boards, I DID post a listing of the Authors from this book.

link?

Great review btw. I'm looking forward to getting it.

Coldweave

Its produced in Hollowfaust exclusively (at least so far as I know) it enables them to go around in great coats and provides very minor resistence to fire attacks. Not at home so I can't give prices.

Yep, that's basically it.

Coldweave was, of course, built in as kind of a style consideration; the "loincloth and optional halter top" outfit isn't something I'd want to mandate on any player (particularly my wife, who hates the notion of being forced to play scantily-clad characters). In particular, coldweave enables the distinctive look of Hollowfaust necromancers (the Puritan-esque greatcoats and wide-brimmed hats), who otherwise would have to change their outfits all the time (as more layers of clothing are more practical in the place where they make their home — it's not just about getting cold, it's about getting wet).

Coldweave is also a neat alchemist's fix to allow fighters and the like to wear armor in hot deserty environments without having to rely on magic. I'm all for anything that allows fighters to use the advantages they have without having to beg for scraps from the party wizard's table.

Hey, Nightfall!

Just got my local shop to order my copy. Can't wait to get it.

I wholeheartily agree.

On the other hand one of my players got their hands on the Book of Eldrich might and I had to really get out the red ink.
In the middle of that project right now, as a matter of fact. Most of the Feats got bumped to post-15th Level (although mostly for flavor reasons). The spells I'll likely get tend to in a week or two. I've found, though, that about the best way for balancing 3rd Party Spells is to delegate them to specific PClasses. This helps to add flavor to the PClasses, and tends to help balance them quite a bit (i.e., a slightly beafy 1st Level Spell is not that overpowered if it isn't available until 10th or 15th Level).

As for the nudity/near-nudity, I personally don't have an issue with it. I tend to see as many exposed male chests as I do females, and I can't recall off the top of my head any groinal-exposure in recent history (it happened in 1E from time to time, after all). Not having any hang-ups, it doesn't really phase me at all (having a hot wife helps, too, but that's another topic ;) ).

The main question I ask is: Is this for flavor, or is it absolutely gratuitous. 90% of the time, it fits the flavor, and thus is acceptable (to me). The nudity in the Mongoose Books is borderline, but being made to fit a multitude of games, and being that the artwork is rather varied (as opposed to being completely comprised of nudity), I tend to let them slide on it.

Okay Numion, here's my response (boy I get a lot questions!

The book costed me 24.95 total. That's not including taxes AND shipping order.

I DO now get to game. At present I'm running a once a week campaign online for the Scarred Lands. It's not as combat oriented as RL game BUT it has other perks.

S&SS does NOT send me free stuff. At least, they don't unless I'm a good boy and don't spill all the beans. :) I have gotten some freebies, yes, but there was a mutual understanding between us, that it would be better if such freebies would work better IF it was just done on the Publishers chat.
