So if you were a cleric, say, and used Student of the Sword, they will only take a -2 for not attacking you? Hmmm...that sucks

Rhole spins up a high-pitch solo with his instrument, swaying even the steadfast Ironheart to tap his roots to the music and quick-step around to block the boar off more directly.

[sblock=Actions]Free: Virtue of Cunning to slide Ironheart to F11.

I was thinking that’s a superior position to intercept the boar from advancing on anyone else, but of course Ironheart should feel free to pick another spot if wants to.

Derien - 13 - 13/26 <- you're up
If I’m not mistaken, Derien has 24/26 hp following Rhole’s Majestic Word.[/sblock]

Right. A cleric would mainly take that feat as a prereq to get Fighter powers, not for its effects.

Hmm, it looks like the only two classes that can make use of generic marks are Fighter and Warden, so either of those multiclassing to another defender class is pretty sweet because it gives them an extra mark. Fighter multiclassing to Paladin gets a Divine Challenge once per encounter (and maybe some divine sanctions if they take the right power swaps), each of which includes a mark that triggers Combat Superiority as well as the Divine Power bonus. Paladin multiclassing to Fighter gets a mark which doesn't trigger any of their special Paladin abilities.

If you want to actually get the fighter's Combat Superiority, you need to get to Paragon and take Battle Acumen - which doesn't give you any method of marking, but it's pretty killer for a class that has its own marks. Except that you need to give up your paragon path, so Ironheart won't be doing that...

Rhole clears his throat dramatically.

“Hey Miss Piggy, take your ham-pered saggy butt back to Oinkville Ham-let before you get ham-mered!”

You sense that the boar somehow understands all these painfully bad puns, reeling back in pain with a squeal.

The gnome strikes his hair-strings once more and the Great Ultra-Intense Thundering Audio Ripper wails in his hands.

“Rock out!”

The little gargoyle, presumably Rock, jumps from Rhole’s hair with a “Wheee!” and power slides the landing on its knees, while playing very deep complimentary tones from a comparably tiny four-stringed instrument. Stony wings stretch from its back and it swoops through the air, climbing to a central position to oversee the battle.

[sblock=Actions]Standard: Vicious Mockery at boar. On a hit of Will 18 it deals 10 damage and gives -2 to attacks until end of Rhole’s next turn.

[sblock=If Rhole takes out the boar]His words are not “set to kill”, but are no less effective.

For instance, you could say he overpowers it through sheer force of personality and awe of his music, making it surrender and cower submissively before Rhole until the party has moved on.

In addition, Rhole’s actions are then changed to moving himself to K12 and then activating Rock.[/sblock]

If the boar is alive:

Ironheart swings his massive axe at the boar again, whiffing past it. He grunts in annoyance and sidesteps to stand between it and Derien; as he moves, tiny tendrils of greenery unfurl from his root along the ground, entangling its legs.

[sblock=OOC]
Standard: attack boar with Strength of Stone: Strength of Stone vs Boar (1d20+7=11, 1d10+5=7) I assume that didn't hit.
Free: mark boar with Nature's Wrath
Move: shift to F11

If the boar is dead:

As the great boar falls, Ironheart whirls with surprising speed and pushes his way through the woods. Other trees bend out of the way as he passes. "These beasts should be free!" he snarls at the satyr. As he plants himself in place in front of the satyr and its ally, tiny shoots spear from his roots into the ground, and erupt from the soil beneath them, wrapping around all six sets of legs. Ironheart swings his axe towards the satyr, but it ducks and he only clips its curly hair.

[sblock=OOC]
Move: to I16 (I think I can make that if I can move from F13 to G14 without taking a movement penalty
Free: mark both the Satyr and Unicorn with Nature's Wrath
Standard: attack the Satyr with Strength of Stone (same roll is above, which is probably still a miss)

The satyr dances around the rock again and continues to play his pipe, but this time the tune changes and you see his allies grow angry and a red tinge is evident in their eyes.

The unicorn touches its horn to Ikni and the swordmage feels a deep connection to the creature, finding she can't bring her blade to harm the fey. In fact, she'd go so far as to attack her own allies from harming the unicorn.

The boar again tries to gore Ironheart, but the wood woad's toughened hide turns aside the tusks.

[sblock=OOC]
Order for bad guys will always be the same, unless I let you know otherwise.

Satyr plays Feral Overture - affects allies only
Unicorn uses Fey Beguling on Ikni - fey beguiling vs will (1d20 7=13) hits (just) and you cannot attack the unicorn, and the target must make opportunity attacks with a +2 bonus against any creature within reach that attacks the unicorn (save ends)
Boar attacks Ironheart - misses (AC 16)vs ac; dmg (1d20 8=16, 1d10 6=11) - again...

Status:
Unicorn: -5 hp, used fey beguiling, fey step, horn touch
Boar: -44hp, cursed, bloodied, marked by Ironheart (TENT)
Satyr: -25 hp, cursed
Ikni: Fey Beguling (save ends)

Init:

Ironheart - 14 - 23/35
Satyr - 13
Unicorn - 13
Boar - 13
Derien - 13 - 24/26 <- you're up
Ikni - 9
Haruka - 6
Rhole - 4
