Derien winces as he watches their enemies lay into Ironheart, but from the other side of the bridge there isn't much he can do about it. He darts down the bridge and into the swamp, then turns Nerati's power on the monster that's keeping him from his new ally.[sblock=Tactics]Haruka: Lance of Faith only has range 5, so I can't start zapping the Lady until next turn. Once I can get a few squares closer, I'll set you up.

Also: I am retraining the crap out of Cause Fear as soon as I hit second level. It has done nothing for me this whole adventure.[/sblock][sblock=Actions]Move: to G12
Standard: Lance of Faith Monster 1, 22 vs. Reflex, 7 damage. The new holy symbol is distinguishing itself! +2 to hit goes to Ikni, as she's the only one who can hit it and hasn't acted yet.[/sblock]

Ikni quickly changes plans, given the hidden foes. She quickly sketches a ward protecting others from the choker, and whirls her blade in a booming arc that shears through a goodly amount of its trunk. "Get back! Take this one down quickly so that we can move freely!"

Sorry, didn't realize I was up. For some reason I was expecting another update. Not sure why...
Arcana check: 26

Minor: Mark choker 1 w/aegis
Standard: booming blade, choker 1: 23 vs. AC for 13 damage, and if it moves away from me on its turn it takes 9 more thunder damage.
Move: None, assuming I'm still adjacent to the choker.

Haruka snarls as the creature grabs her. She twists out of its grip, running her fingers along its arm while she does so. Her tattoos uncoil from her arms and plunge into the beast, causing it to visibly wilt and fade. Haruka looks over her shoulder at the Lady and laughs.

"Don't flatter yourself. I plan on living to make many more mistakes after this!"

Derien winces as he watches their enemies lay into Ironheart, but from the other side of the bridge there isn't much he can do about it. He darts down the bridge and into the swamp, then turns Nerati's power on the monster that's keeping him from his new ally.

The gnome steps back from the whispers and monsters. He wipes off some swamp-water that splashed in his face when the chokers emerged from hiding.

“Whoa, tentacle-dudes, hands off the merchandise! Now this calls for some serious crowd control.”

Rhole’s fingers dance across the Great Ultra-Intense Thundering Audio Ripper, emitting almost hypnotically rhythmic tunes. It draws the attention of one of the chokers in particular, though not enough to make it cease its grip on Ironheart.

Ironheart roars and twists in the chokers grasp. His eyes grow red and his bark seems to blacken, while his limbs lengthen and grow stronger. He draws back his axe and deals the choker two mighty blows - WHAM! WHAM!

The first attack missed, the athletics check was enough to break out though.

Ikni quickly changes plans, given the hidden foes. She quickly sketches a ward protecting others from the choker, and whirls her blade in a booming arc that shears through a goodly amount of its trunk. "Get back! Take this one down quickly so that we can move freely!"

The woman steps forward in the muck, she opens her mouth and a terrible sound emanates from it, slamming into Ikni, Haruka, and Derien. Haruka's able to fight it off, but it catches Derien sending him into the muck. Ikni is unaware of the blast and it hits her full force, leaving her ears ringing as she flies off the causeway and into the swampy water far from her allies.

The bloodied choker grins fiercely when the swordmage is sent flying and he's left alone with Haruka. He once again wraps his slimy tentacles around the warlock, but as he tries to constrict a magical force surrounds Haruka, preventing their squeeze.

The other monster hears the splash as Ikni flies into the water and abandons his current target for easier prey. He reaches to Ikni and grabs on tight, nearly squeezing the life from the swordmage. Ikni's vision blurs and darkness threatens to overwhelm her.

The small cloaked figure rushes towards Ironheart, shadows coalescing around it and it leaps into the air, driving its dagger up to the hilt of the large warden. Ironheart collapses under the assault and lies on the causeway, his life sap leaking into the wood.

ooc: Also, Ikni's a girl.

"Hey, I don't break your toys!" Haruka shouts as Ironheart falls. She struggles to break out of the beast's grip, but this time she is unable to escape. She manages to slip a hand free to send a quick blast of fire at her captor, but she groans as the creature twists past her flames. Not again...

"You're dead, witch. Arnamil's been watching us the whole time. The only reason he hasn't stamped you out himself is because he finds our efforts entertaining. Even if we fall, he knows you have his ring. Whatever purpose you have for stealing it you had best fulfill soon."

[sblock=Actions]Move: Acrobatics to escape the grab fails.
Standard: Hellish Rebuke Monster 1, missing wretchedly. Too bad. It would have been fun to do 19 damage with an At-Will.
Minor: Curse the Lady.

Ok IC, I really need to be able to hit with my At-Wills this battle. If you want Haruka to break allegiance with the Oni and become a vassal of your dark majesty, consider it done. But I need to hit with Hellish Rebuke. Every time, starting now.[/sblock]

I'm planning this turn to have Rhole heal Ikni and try to pull Haruka free with Cutting Words, but I think we may already have to think about retreat.

We could try to draw the battle away from the swamp, since it kills our mobility - which is B.A.D. with the auto-damage aura and huge area attacks of the hag.

Thoughts?[/sblock]
