[S&F] Red Avenger BAB...can this be correct?

I guess the subject says it all.

AFAIK, no errata or FAQ have adressed this so far. The Red Avenger BAB simply doesn´t fit any other´s class BAB. Why?

No errata of which I am aware. The BAB is the cleric's BAB (3/4), but starting at +1 instead of +0. It is strange that it works this way. I would change it to start at +0 like the other PrC's of this variety (Ninja of the Crescent Moon, for example).

I don't see any reason not to keep it that way. It's not too powerful or weak becasue of it. It's a little different, but that's not always bad.

Sure. Keep it or fix it to match the cleric´s BAB. I tend to do the latter.

But I really ask myself if it is a typo or if the RA ist intended to have a BAB that is different from all the other classes´.

There are other classes that use the advanced cleric BAB. If you don't want a 5 level class to be especially penalized you do the same thing. Its an 80% progression vs a 75% progession.

If I properly understand what you are saying, the prestige class "Justicar" from the Tomb of Abysthor has a similar progression. It seems to be done to meld the benifits of two different classes without overkill.

I'd call it an error.

One of the reasons for the +0 in the cleric BAB is balance: If you take the class, you'll take a hit in BAB. It discourages a one level "dip" into the PrC.

That's a good thing.
