Scotley's Tomb of Horrors 3.5

OOC-Leif, remember that we did rest for the night so Logan should have prayed and regained all of his spells. And putting the center of the effect at H10-11 won't endanger any of the party unless jillian tries to tumble past the gargoyle to get a flank.

[sblock=Leif]Wow that gear logan has could have been done much better. For 2 AC and 2 wisdom he could have had 19d8 of healing a day without using up charges or spell slots.
Amulet of rettributive healing, ring of mystic healing X2 and Eternal wand of CLW X2 would have only costed 10,640g.[/sblock]
OOC: Oh, wow, I didn't take the rest into account! Oooops! Help, Scotley! And as regards his equipment, I didn't have just a whole lot of choice, since I was a late arrival and just took over the abandoned character that was already in place. Good thought, though!

Well, obviously, the idea is to not toast Harrison at all! (As much as he does deserve it, sometimes! )

hey, I heard, er, ... rather I read that! ]/ooc[

hp: 80/97 ac 24 touch 20 flat foot 17

]ic[ Harrison returns the gargoyal's attack with his own:

attack one

first attack (1d20+16=22, 1d8+7=14)
base number: 6 ( non crit )

attack two

attack 2 (1d20+11=15, 1d8+7=14)
base number: 4 (non crit)

*whack! whoosh...*

Garagos, AC 29 (T19, FF27), HP 107/107, DR 3/-, F +11,R+6,W+10

Garagos steps into the doorway, using ancient dwarven fighting techniques to protect the ones behind him.

[sblock=ooc]

Move into L11, if still free. If not L10, using my undermountain tactis feat and delay an attack, if the monster enters Garagos' reach.[/sblock]

OOC: Okay, I updated the map and the post above with Garagoes' action. I have Harrison's attacks so Jillian and Ballista are up...

Jillian 14
Ballista 10
4 armed winged thingy 10 (AC21)

Jillian Tealeaf, Rogue9, AC25,FF19,T17, HP37/37, F+4,R+13,W+5

Over her initial shock of finding the giant beastie, Jillian moves forward a bit.

OOC: Moving to M-11 just behind Garagos.

Ballista, HP48/48, AC 24/29vRanged(FF19/24vR-T15/20vR) F5 R13 W6

Ballista steps deftly into the space that Jillian just vacated (P-10) and unleashes another barrage at the beast without the slightest worry of hitting her compatriots. Full Attack: 22/19/26* Two of her arrows find their mark as a third sails just past the monster's head. dmg/cold: (10/4, 10/6) While the giant arrows don't seem to harm the gargoyle, the frosty crystals that coat each one break off explosively, peppering it with a shiney porcupine look for a moment as the icey shards look like they hit home.

[sblock=OOC]DR10/- seems really excessive for a lvl 9 game. Did I do the 10 cold dmg, or does it have cold resist too? If it did take cold dmg then it also took 1 last round.[/sblock]

Jillian and Ballista move about and then Ballista looses more of her arrows at the 4-armed horror. While the big bolts themselves seem to have little effect the skin around them is apparently harmed by ice.

The Gargoyle responds to Harrison's attacks with an awesome blow (1d20+20=29). The creature is very strong and the blow rocks the fighter (damage (2d8+10=19)) threatening to knock him off his feet.

[sblock=Harrison] (DC19 reflex save or be knocked back two squares and fall prone). [/sblock]

OOC: Awesome Blow is a pretty cool feat, I wonder if I'll get to try out cleave or better yet great cleave before this fight is over?

OOC: That's probably why this guy is CR11. The cold works just fine though.
