Harrison Bentz 17
Jillian 14
Ballista 10
4 armed winged thingy 10 (AC21)
Grackle 7
Garagoes 7
Logan 6
Zorn 5

Harrison is never one to stand still when innocents are threatened. He moves to challenge it and introduce it to his sword, which he does with an impressive blow.

Jillian shreeks and runs back to allow the fighters a chance at the big thing. "Eeeeeeeek!!!" She arrives next to Grackle and looks at the gnome with wide eyes.

Ballista steps up behind Grackle and unleashes a blistering barrage of 5ft long ballista bolts toward the creature. The first arrow finds its mark, but the next 2 sink solidly into the top of the door frame she is shooting through.

The 4 armed gargoyle charges forward head lowered to Gore (1d20+24=39) Harrison with its horns (2d6+5=17).

Grackle's slow to realize what's going on afterward until Jillan runs screaming back towards him. After a few moments of confused surprise, Grackle gibbers in worry and cringes, hoping the flying beastie leaves him alone. He stuffs the Admiral back into the relative safety of his magical backpack.

With a glance toward heaven and a brief pray Logan seeks divine favor in the coming battle.

Garagos acts a bit to slow to be any big help in the first few combat seconds. He raises his shield and steps forward to protect those behind.

Zorn starts trying to line up a shot. Zorn carefully aims around Garagoes and launches an orb of freezing cold energy at the gargoyle, striking it easily. The skin of the creature turns a sickly blue-black frostbitten shade at the point of impact.

OOC: Please give Zorn and Garagoes a chance to revise before posting for round 2.

Ballista, HP48/48, AC 24/29vRanged(FF19/24vR-T15/20vR) F5 R13 W6

Ballista looks cross ways at the creature, as the others have difficulties similar to her own. Knowledge Planes: (1d20+5=18) "That couldn't really just be a gargoyle could it? It looks more like a Nycaloth from the deeper planes."

[sblock=OOC]Knowledge doesn't take an action :) if it isn't an evil outsider, Ballista's dmg was only 8. looks like an evil outsider to Ballista ;p[/sblock]

After a more careful look, Ballista is pretty sure this is just a really big powerful mutant gargoyle. She's also pretty sure that her weapons didn't hurt the thing as it seems resistant to lesser blows. (DR10/-)

Logan Lightbringer, Cleric9, AC28,FF27T17,HP76-10+3DR=69/76, DR3/-, F+9,R+4,W+11

OOC: Does Logan have enough room in this place to cast a Flame Strike without incinerating any party members? He really wants to do it, because, as far as this fight goes, he's gonna be about as useful as :):):):) on a boar hog if that won't work. (Cool, ENWorld automatically "bleeped" out my expletive!)

OOC: Also, don't ever let me forget again about Logan's Armband of Maximum Healing, that could have come in very, very handy recently, and Logan might not be practically out of spells again already.

OOC: Fortunately, the 3.5 rules don't subscribe to the old style 1e idea that a spell has to expand to its full area. I believe you can use a spell that is 40' tall in a room with a 15' ceiling without my having to do some geometry and figure out how far down the hall the flames go. The spell has a 10' radius and you should be able to squeeze that in without toasting Harrison too badly. Hopefully we'll hear from Zorn and Garagoes today.

Well, obviously, the idea is to not toast Harrison at all! (As much as he does deserve it, sometimes! ;) ) Does Logan judge that he can do it without even scalding any of his friends in the slightest?

OOC-Leif, remember that we did rest for the night so Logan should have prayed and regained all of his spells. And putting the center of the effect at H10-11 won't endanger any of the party unless jillian tries to tumble past the gargoyle to get a flank.

[sblock=Leif]Wow that gear logan has could have been done much better. For 2 AC and 2 wisdom he could have had 19d8 of healing a day without using up charges or spell slots.
Amulet of rettributive healing, ring of mystic healing X2 and Eternal wand of CLW X2 would have only costed 10,640g.[/sblock]
