Shows that I hate!!! Rant

I was fortunate enough to marry a gamer who also shares my tastes in most media. We spend a lot of hours together "watching" (Its rare for us to watch with 100 percent attention, we're born multi-taskers) Law & Order, L&O: SVU, Forensics Files, the Investigators, American Justice, Cops, Stargate, SG:Atlantis, any and all Trek, and re-runs of the original battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers, and more things along the science/technology/SF/Fantasy line, as well as a great enjoyment of Murder She Wrote, Poriot, Sherlock Holmes, Columbo, Inspector Morese, Midsommer Murders, and frequent viewings of How Clean Is Your House, Changing Rooms and Trading Spaces/Family, Cash in the Attic, Are You Being Served, Keeping Up Apeparances, and several other Britcoms. We're huge Doctor Who fans, willing to give the new chap a go, terrified he'll be as violently awful and blasphemous as Paul mcGann.

We both loathe to the point of jumping for the remote Lost, 24, the new Battlestar Galactica, most reality TV, most drama TV, charmed, Buffy, etc. Anything too soap-opera-y and too gritty, realistic, or morally grey. She likes Farscape, I think its dull. We both love House. I suppose we're similarly Anomalous. :)

I will give a big congrats to MTV who actually had the first reality show- Real World (1992) and Road Rules. Both long before Survivor.
I remember when the news was a reality show. Shows how old I am.

I love American Idol.

Not so much the actual competition partof it, but more the audtions where complete basket cases come in and get sent packing by the very mean, cool and honest Simon Cowell

Well I am not a TV buff most of my free time is spent playing guitar, city of heros or doing something work related. The only couple of shows I try to watch are Carnivale, and Smallville.

I never said anything about killing anyone though I wouldn't mind punching one of those chicks in the face once.

The real problem lies in that fact that even with my headphones on and on the computer(which lies the problem) because it's the in the same room. And I usually am not one to judge even The Simple Life has some comical value to it. Though I really dislike it.

Just a general rant but once again the voices are trying to get me to do terrible things

Can't be worse than parking yourself in front of the TV set this coming Sunday with a ridiculous beer hat and sports either a Patriot or Eagle logo painted on your front chest and stomach. :]

This is my point exactly. I have absolutely no interest in sports. I can't imagine sitting in front of a tv for hours watching burly sweaty guys in tight pants groping each other, much less actually going to a game. But it is apparent that the majority of guys like sports. It's all about what you find entertaining, just a matter of taste.

Now, if your SO is constantly monopolizing the TV with shows that you hate, I think it sort of shows a level of indifference toward you and what you like. Me and my honey compromise and each sit through shows that we don't like. I don't care for the reality shows, and she doesn't care for Buffy, JAG, or Star Trek in any of its incarnations, but we sit through it because we like being with each other. It has to be two-way, though.

Wow, I can't believe I just advocated compromise. I usually argue that compromising means no one gets what they want. But I guess we both sort of do get what we want-to watch the shows we like.

Cops was there long before any of them and is still on the air and most likely will be long after those three a but a memory.

Bad Boys
Whatcha gonna do when they come for you

True, I completely forgot about it! And it looks like it may out last the all the newer ones.

As for the news- I hate to say it, but COPS often does look like the news for my area :-(

Anyways, back the ranting :)

fiance/GF/Wife + TV = usually bad choices in what you get to watch for tv that night. ... don't even think about saying "while you're watching tv I'm gonna get on the computer" ... that just brings about pouting and a guilt trip for not cuddling with her.

my fiance has gotten better ... I don't have to watch the Bachelor anymore, nor wife/mommy swap, biggest loser, and bacholer/ette.

I can handle Survivor and Amazing Race though.

Dr. Phil is a touch and go show, and I can't stand Starting over (at least she tapes those, which means we can fast forward through some of it.)

... and if she reads this, I'll have to wait until my fingers mend before I type again.
