Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Season 3 Viewing (Spoilers)

Do we know if the recent Star Trek shows use the Volume (or something similar to it) like the recent Star Wars shows do?

To quote wikipedia:

"Paramount+ constructed a video wall to allow for virtual production, based on the StageCraft technology used on the Disney+ series The Mandalorian (2019–2023). The new virtual set was built in Toronto by visual effects company Pixomondo, and features a 270-degree, 70 feet (21 m) by 30 feet (9.1 m) horseshoe-shaped LED volume with additional LED panels in the ceiling to aid with lighting. The technology uses the game engine software Unreal Engine to display computer-generated backgrounds on the LED screens in real-time during filming;"

Yet, they rush her into the captain's chair regardless. It was a bit frustrating to watch.
At least they waited until the end of season 3. When Discovery started, I would have bet money that Michael was going to be Captain by the end of season one.

OK, so that moon was mostly likely a 3D CGI set.

And I guess it had a breathable atmosphere because the Metrons gave it one.

How many episodes have thee been that are direct callbacks (call forwards?) to TOS episodes? There was the Rokulan warbird one, the Trelane one, this one. I feel like I’m missing some though.
There is also Roger Korby's whole presence and relationship with Chapel.

Edited to add: Beyond season 3, there was S2E4 where they went to Rigel VII, where Pike had an earlier away mission, and that experience had been used as an illusion on Talos IV when Pike was there. The Rigellian fortress was pretty distinctive.
1) I saw 4 extras in a corridor. Yay budget!
There is no room for extra crew! It looks like the quarters have gotten even larger this season. If they increase the complement, I imagine there will have to be an internal refit of the Enterprise subdividing all the spacious rooms into smaller crew spaces. :ROFLMAO:

As someone who hasn't watched much of TOS, the derivativeness (derivations?) go over my head, so your #3 isn't an issue for me.
Derivative of Enemy Mine (and the many other derivatives of Enemy Mine—it’s a very common story) not TOS.

At least it wasn’t Die Hard, I suppose!

I don't know if there are any other full-on direct callback episodes yet. There are a ton of references though.

Like, "Spock Amok" where he and T'Pring swap bodies, is a reference to TOS "Amok Time". Everywhere we see Doctor Korby looking for tech that will make people immortal is a reference to his ultimate, tragic fate in TOS "What Are Little Girls Made Of". And La'an's trip back in time is heavily influenced by "City at the Edge of Forever", as is the crossover episode with Lower Decks.

So... Aliens?
No, not Aliens. The classic Die Hard scenario involves one person (perhaps with an ally) going up against a legion of foes using a combination of guerilla tactics, guile, and straight up tenacity.

Ripley shows up on the planet with a gang of Space Jarheads who slowly die off, picks up a random child, finds out one of the people she's with is more evil than the Aliens, and uses a lot of heavy firepower and an exosuit to save the day.

Now Alien, the original? It's sort of a Mirror Universe Die Hard with an alien instead of Bruce Willis with a goatee. So close enough?

Though thinking about it, the TNG season 6 episode, "Starship Mine" is pretty close to Die Hard on a Spaceship, so I guess it's been done after all.
