Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Season 3 Viewing (Spoilers)

Especially when Doug Jones was sooo good, and they had the whole fearful to fearless dynamic for him as a leadership development arc.

But, also, this thread's about SNW, not Disco, so... to at least continue thematically on captains...

How are folks taking the slow-slide-in of Kirk? I am... a bit mixed on it. I think the actor's pretty good - his bit in Space Adventure Hour was inspired - but find the storyline... awkward, I guess?
Doug Jones is always excellent. You should see him as the cringe-worthy mayor in the webseries "Fallout: Nuka Break", based on the video game.

Honestly the only Kirk insertion that has seemed forced was him being on the holodeck for the murder mystery. Now it was a cool episode I didn't mind it, but yeah of all the people the enterprise has transporter records of they just happen to pick Kirk....a bit on the nose.

But the idea that his ship was attacked the Enterprise came to save him and work with him....sure I'm in. Kirk dropping by to see his brother because they both have shore leave....perfectly plausible. Now normally you would expect some communication ahead of time but this just establishes Kirk as the impulsive, seat of his pants, kind of guy. Hes like "eh let me go surprise my bro", and off he goes.

That one makes sense because the whole thing was tailored to La’an’s preferences. She had a crush on Kirk after their time travel adventure, so it makes sense he’d feature in her holographic fantasy.

I don't mind it. It does feel a little forced, but it's not bothering me at all.
