Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Season 3 Viewing (Spoilers)

No, not Aliens. The classic Die Hard scenario involves one person (perhaps with an ally) going up against a legion of foes using a combination of guerilla tactics, guile, and straight up tenacity.

So, I think you're being a lot more specific with that then the "Die Hard, on an X" trope generally is.

2) Not a single exterior shuttle shot, making that whole sequence just Ortegas rocking about in a chair and narrating the external events, and only one exterior Enterprise shot (as it entered the wormhole). Boo budget!
Well, that's not true. None pre-credits, but we get plenty once she's through the wormhole and heading in to crash on the moon.

Die Hard on a Starship could be fun!
So fun, I wrote and published a whole adventure based on that concept!

Are you sure? I'll have to watch it again, but my memory is that there were none. Well, except flor the crashed shuttle on the ground. I suppose my mind could be playing tricks on me!

Yeah, there were a couple of external shuttle shots. They did cut away from showing the shuttle leaving the Enterprise, but we have seen that before. Personally, I think limited budgets encourage creativity. Throw too much money at a thing and you end up with a lot more FX shots and a lot less story and character.

Yep, first shot after the credits is the wormhole opening and the shuttle coming through, heading straight into a debris field around the gas giant. The next minute is this intercut with interior shots as Ortegas deploys the beacon and steers in for a crash-landing. We see exterior footage of the beacon being launched, the shuttle slamming into asteroids and its descent towards the moon's surface until just prior to the moment of impact.

Wow. I really do need to watch it again.

It's also shown on the big screen, on the bridge, heading towards the wormhole as it heads away from Enterprise.
