Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Season 3 Viewing (Spoilers)

Being from New Zealand, I assume you have the same "welcome to not being American" experience that we do when it comes to shows and spoilers.
Sometimes but not always! When I first moved here 20+ years ago, we'd generally get shows and movies late if at all. These days, though, it's a real mixed bag. I can remember when it was a big deal for local streaming services to be able to put out certain shows at the same time as they went live in the US! While there are still movies and shows we'll get later, it's definitely become more expected that we'll get stuff at the same time ... and occasionally we'll even get something first!

Like Netflix gave us both parts of Wednesday Season 2 on our Wednesday, rather than making us wait till our Thursday (which would be Wednesday in the US).

It can even be different on the same platform! For instance, our public broadcaster, TVNZ, has a free, ad-based streaming platform, and they are able to make deals with the big international studios to host big name shows here without us having to pay for the original streaming service subscription. Currently I'm watching Star Trek: Strange New Worlds that way, and we've been getting new episodes at the same time as everyone else. Meanwhile, TVNZ has also recently added the US Office spinoff The Paper, but whereas Peacock dumped the whole season onto its platform at once, TVNZ is drip-feeding it to us weekly.

So, it's finale time.

I enjoyed the actual story of this episode quite a bit, it felt like it built well off of events throughout the season. However, it felt like it desperately needed to have at least one more preceding episode to do some of the heavy lifting of setting things up for this one.

What we get instead are some really clumsy exposition scenes combined with some of the wildest possible leaps of logic that all turn out to be completely correct. Those parts made my brain itch.

Definitely a distinctive way of speaking. There have been several times when I missed what she said, had to back up and watch it again with subtitles.
Sadly her role has felt rather wasted this season. With Scotty around to do the actual engineering miracle working, a lot of her scenes have just been quips and comic relief.

It's Carol Kane. Quips and comedy are what she does.
Yeah . . . but she could have been doing that AND some awesome engineering!

I've absolutely loved Carol Kane as Pelia in SNW, because I've loved just about everything she's ever done . . . but I do think her potential was wasted. Her portrayal is wonderful, but could have been so much more!

Of course, I'm also loving Martin Quinn's Scotty, so . . .
