The LGG is great. It does not have the sheer amount of delightful bits from the 83 set, like the encounter tables or weather/climate or runes. But it makes up for it in massive extra details everywhere.I have the Living Greyhawk Gazetter. Is that a good source, or I should get that Boxed Set everyone talks about?
I just saw this afternoon he released a Greyhawk setting guide in DMsguild, which I considered checking out, but I hesitated because in his video announcing it he made a comment about how he “knows (he’s) going to get a lot of heat from certain people” because of it, which struck me as a bit… dog-whistly sounding… and as a trans woman I sadly have to approach the old-school RPG crowd with a measure of caution. Do you know where he stands on inclusivity in gaming? On the off chance Greyhawk Grognard wasn’t mentioned, check out his stuff.

Absolutely justified stance. Unfortunately, no. I don’t know his stuff well enough to say either way.I just saw this afternoon he released a Greyhawk setting guide in DMsguild, which I considered checking out, but I hesitated because in his video announcing it he made a comment about how he “knows (he’s) going to get a lot of heat from certain people” because of it, which struck me as a bit… dog-whistly sounding… and as a trans woman I sadly have to approach the old-school RPG crowd with a measure of caution. It may very well have been that he meant it was the anti-inclusive crowd who he’d be getting heat from, for releasing a product on the DM’s guild, in which case I’d be happy to give his book a buy. But, the statement was vague enough I could see it going either way.Absolutely justified stance. Unfortunately, no. I don’t know his stuff well enough to say either way.
The impression I get is he’s very old-school, traditional Greyhawk in the no tieflings or dragonborn sense as that’s what he mentions in the video. Not that he’s a real-world hateful person. But again, I don’t know.It may very well have been that he meant it was the anti-inclusive crowd who he’d be getting heat from, for releasing a product on the DM’s guild, in which case I’d be happy to give his book a buy. I'm very sorry the reality of the situation is that you have to take these cautious steps in order to protect yourself. Hopefully things will change sooner rather than later. I can't speak for any other DM, but I'm proud to say I enjoy eviscerating player characters regardless of race, gender, age, national origin, or religious affiliation. I'm glad you're here as your presence makes every thread better.I just saw this afternoon he released a Greyhawk setting guide in DMsguild, which I considered checking out, but I hesitated because in his video announcing it he made a comment about how he “knows (he’s) going to get a lot of heat from certain people” because of it, which struck me as a bit… dog-whistly sounding… and as a trans woman I sadly have to approach the old-school RPG crowd with a measure of caution. I believe that he meant from people riding the hardline anti-WotC hobby horse in that case...not sure where Bloch lies on the issues of inclusivity, but he is definitely in the old school orbit...I just saw this afternoon he released a Greyhawk setting guide in DMsguild, which I considered checking out, but I hesitated because in his video announcing it he made a comment about how he “knows (he’s) going to get a lot of heat from certain people” because of it, which struck me as a bit… dog-whistly sounding… and as a trans woman I sadly have to approach the old-school RPG crowd with a measure of caution. Yeah, I got the impression he’s also not overly fond of WotC, and by itself that wouldn’t be a red flag. Plenty of people take issue with WotC and their stewardship of D&D, for all sorts of reasons. It’s just unclear to me if he’s concerned about taking heat from the LaNassa types, or from the blue-haired boogeyperson.I believe that he meant from people riding the hardline anti-WotC hobby horse in that case...not sure where Bloch lies on the issues of inclusivity, but he is definitely in the old school orbit...
