The Blue & The Grey (Long Shots)

Hmmmm...strange. Something like this should have passed around like wildfire. Is he lying?

"Yeah, it's not a secret. Pass it on and if you hear anything interesting, you can pass it on to us. Now, why don't you tell us your funny story." Heywood says. He really watches the man's body language and tone to see if he seems to be lying at all.

"The word is, he was here making a gambling debt good. Some punk named Nealy from old money back East. I understand he had a little too much fun in Vegas, but didn't want to ask pops for any help. He came out here to play the ponies and make up some of his losses. Lou said he was living up in the hills with some actor, but I imagine you could find out more if you checked some of the tracks: Hollywood Park and Santa Anita, for starters. Maybe even Del Mar if you want to drive to San Diego."

[tumble tumble]He sounds sincere, and continues.

"You don't think it was some sort of a hit, do you? That's the last thing we'd need."

"Not sure. When we here something, you will. As long as you scratch our back we will scratch yours. Know what I mean?" Bishop will mention to the mobster. "You said Hollywood Park and Santa Anita, right?"

Heywood gives Little Charlie an appreciative nod and says to his partner, "Yeah, let's get outta here."

Outside, he asks Bishop, "Well, should we check out Hollywood Park and Santa Anita? We can drive to San Diego tomorrow after we see the coroner."

Hollywood Park is not racing today, so it is fairly easy to get in and walk about. You are able to speak to the head teller, who seems unwilling to reveal any information about patron betting.

"Look, pal, we don't really care about who he was betting on or how much. We want to know who he was here with or what he talked about. Can you help us out with that?" Heywood says, trying not to get too angry. Dad would have had some info from him all ready. Although, he probably would have beat it out of him.
