I have always balanced classes more at level 1-15, Level 15+ for most intents and purposes basically doesn't exist except for NPC or for the lets create higher level PC's. Playing from the low levels the game more or less.

Really?
The Wizards massive Spell List is both a blessing and a curse. You have so many options to choose from, but you can only choose to learn so many of them, and you can prepare even less. In the end, whenever I'm playing a Wizard, I still end up picking the spells with the widest possible general applications. Except the best "general" spells are on everyone else's Spell List (for 1st and 2nd level Spells, I mean).

This has come up a few times in this thread... has everyone forgotten about the Wizard's spellbook? If your DM is not letting you find and add new spells you should talk to them about this class feature. A Wizard should always be discovering new spells, either by defeating enemy casters or checking towns for other Wizards.

Not to many spell books and scrolls in 5E adventures and the two spells aclevel for free tends to make players lazy. Vs 0 spells or 1 if you are a specialist. I've had players look for rituals but most don't seem to think about looking for a wizard guild or whatever.
