"I came back at the inn after you left." says Nordal. "Seems that Idrag scores very high in your interest. After you fought these thugs in the inn I thought that perhaps we could be allies, but seems I was wrong, if you were in the inn only by coincidence."
"Well, we were there an we fought the thugs, regardless of who Senac hired to do what. We are interested in Idrag and even if we weren't, I'm sure he is interested in us now so it is in our interest to hear you out. Before joining forces, I would know more of your motives. Is it Idrag with whom you have an 'axe to grind'?"
"I´m actually the chief of Gotian´s thief guild." says Nordal. "Actually the only survivor, since the guard caught and killed us all: Pustules, the Academic, Carob Tree, and Mouse. I´ve trying to get my revenge since then, but it´s a difficult fight being only one."
[sblock=Patlin: ]It´s a quite cold night, there, alone in the dark alley...[/sblock]
"So let me get this straight," Draig says to Nordal. "You want us to put our trust in you, a character who freely admits to being the chief of the thieves guild, and therefore, by your very nature untrustworthy? The smoke must have gone to my head..."
"Now, let's not be too hasty, Draig. I'm sure you understand our dilema, Nordal. It seems the under currents in this town have their own under currents. Putting our trust in a chief of the thieves, well, that does seem a bit far fetched doesn't it? How is it that you survived while your other associates were all killed? And do you have any new associates you are working with or are you going at this alone?" I wish I was better at gauging people. I've always been able to spin some excellent half-truths into a believable story, but I was never very good at figuring out when someone else was doing the same.
[ooc: Actually, he said he was aone in the last post]
Nordal shrugs. "I´m being sincere to you, even when I don´t know exactly who you are and what are your plans. Confidence is a tricky thing, and we aren´t going to build it ina night, or a couple days, or a month. I offer you no securities, the same you can´t offer me."
"And how Idrag caught us all? That´s easy; he´s not afraid of using torture. Once Mouse was caught he learned all he needed from him, and attacked one of our hiding spots. I was lucky enough to escape the ambush."
[sblock]If it's cold enough that people are heating their houses, Banion will examine the nearby rooftops to see if any of them offer hidden nooks where he might hide in relative warmth near a hot chimney. He'll also look for likely sheltered spots not on a rooftop nearby. If the mysterious visitor's conversation lasts longer than 40 minutes, Banion will start thinking more seriously about where to spend the night. Otherwise, he wants to keep a lookout to see if anyone else joins the little gathering, and to find out where the mysterious stranger goes if he does in fact leave.[/sblock]
