Now i´finishing collegue so i´m thinking that i will have to enjoy my last rpg gaming sessions of my life... :(
Don't worry, that is what I taught too when I started working. 7 years later I finally found a new set of players and we have been enjoying the game for the last year.

good luck

Maybe it´s cause he wants more simple combat and we don´t play with miniatures, so without them it´s dificult to flank...

We play mostly a hack & slash game, maybe some of the players we will want a more sofisticated play(more detailed npc, more roleplaying, more history after dungeons..), but we know with this DM can´t be.

1. This effectively demonstrates that not using miniatures in general makes it a lot harder to get any position dependent effects off--flanking, area effect spells, etc. Perhaps you could convince him to use counters (pennies painted different colors make very cheap counters but would make things clear enough that you could move in to flank much more easily).

2. It seems rather odd that, in a mostly hack and slash game, you would go for simplified combat. If combat is most of what there is to the game, I would expect that you'd want sophisticated and interesting combats.

i´ve one doubt, we had always think that if you play with miniatures(with squares or measuring movement distances..) the combat isn´t very slow and maybe boring??? i like turn based videogames(fallout,xcom..) but i know that some of my friend will kill me if i propose playing with miniatures and map with squares...Now we draw basically in a paper were are we when combat is complicated but normally no.

Dwarf cleric who specialises in archery would be my suggestion.

Dwarf and archer in the same phrase seems odd for me.. ;)

The cleric/hospitaler seems good but the mount feats are a waste cause we always play in dungeons and our horses don´t last enough when we are outside(stolen, killed, fled).

I can´t finish this post without tell you one of the best histories with my DM.
One time we were travelling through an enormous plain(kms of sight), and suddenly my dm says 2 cold giants attacks you(result from a random encounter table ) after that we always watch after the shrubs just in case it´s a giant sneaking.. :)

I used to play sometimes without miniatures back in 1st and 2nd edition. But even then it usually was easier to run combat situations using some kind of tokens or markers that could be moved. When I started playing 3rd edition, I started using a battlemat with miniatures and now can't even think of going back to anything else. Using miniatures doesn't slow the game down if you don't let it. If you are drawing things on paper, chances are it's faster to do it with miniatures instead.

What can slow things down is that players suddenly see a lot more options when using miniatures and a battlemap, and they wind up counting spaces and distances a lot more accurately which can take more time. However, you can limit each player to just a short time each to keep things on pace. The other area that can slow things down with miniatures is when the DM needs to draw on the map, place obstacles or monsters. But if they are prepared, that should just take a few seconds. In a pinch, they can use markers like dice to represent monsters.

The melee cleric that you say seems interesting for me, thanks. But Oscar(my name is also oscar ) in what book is the contemplative PrC??, my dm also only let PrC from DMG and Faerun Books, and maybe some of the class books we have(tome and blood, defenders of the faith).. Divine disciple seems very good(why i´ve never seen this PrC???)." instintive ttack from VofED" what book is this??. Mainly i´ve searched the list of spells from the PHB, what are the good cleric spells form the other books(they are too many spells for searching).

You can find the Contemplative Prc in the defenders of faith
the Divine Disciple in Forgotten Realms Campaign setting or Players Guide to Faerun
Instintive attack is a feat of Book of Exalted Deeds
you can find in this four books a lot of usefull spells
send to me an e-mail and we talking about this oscarcarraminana@hotmail.com :)

I hope that helps

Wow, your DM sucks.

Note that the mounted feats are the icing on the cake; they're actually completely irrelevant to the build, the main strength of which is a cleric archer with full BAB and the ability to polymorph into a nice powerful outsider.

I'd say your DM sucks also, but I'd first like to give him a chance to explain himself here. So- invite him on over.

What to play? Rogue2/hexblade4 then Kensai (CW) all the way. The Kensai will give you a great magic weapon, despite your cheap*ss DM. Or, take rogue1/ranger4(or 5) then Annointed knight- again gets a great "free" magic weapon.

Lastly- how about a theif, who repents & joins a monestary? Rogue1/monk all the way, VoP. Who cares about loot? :p
