Unreal Tournament 2004...

Is anyone else addicted to the demo yet? I have never been a big fan of the first person shooter, of course I haven't played one since wolfenstein and the first quake, but I found the demo to be absolutely awesome!

Not exactly addicted, but I do like it alot. The onslaught mode adds some tactics to the game, and the vehicles are cool. I also like the bombing run map... pretty sweet. :)

About half of my matches so far have felt a little laggy. I chalk that up to temporary servers. How has your multiplayer experience been?

I've been enjoying the game. Haven't seen too too much lag, but I tend to avoid servers with triple digit pings. Originally I was pretty irritated at the ability of Manta drivers to just mow down dozens of players, but then I spent a good while trying it myself. On the whole, it seems like just about everything in this game takes a proportional amount of talent equal to the power of the results, and that's a sign of good game.

Well, until you get a Devastator, then you just hope no one's looking up ^_^

I've been enyoing it a lot as well. I'm generally not a fan of first person shooters (I can't stand most of the Unreal games), but this one has been enyojable. I play a lot of Halo (PC and XBox), and I'm really liking these new team game modes in UT04. I hope they "borrow" some of these ideas for Halo 2!

My multiplayer experience has been quite laggy though...

Neurozombie, I'd definitely recommend Halo if you're not normally an FPS fan, but like UT 2004

While I wasn't into UT2K3, I've already pre-ordered the DVD edition of UT2K4. It seems like they went back to a lot of what made the original UT popular and (re)added some cool gameplay modes and a ton of maps.... and that gets a big thumbs up from me.

Just happened to download this the other day when I was looking for something new to play. It happened to work out pretty well, as far as lag issues and such. I've got piloting the raptor down quite a bit better than the majority of players (and I HATE it when somebody steals up my fighter before I can get to it, then gets it shot down). Theres no way anyone can hit me in an air to air fight, though I honestly hope that they fix that later. As long as you mater climb/dive and which direction to move in, air to air missiles can't hit you.

I'm not so good on foot. I stick to the lightning gun/redeemer/shock rifle.

My experiences have been pretty good, with very little lag, even in the triple pings. I suk, however, but that has nothing to do with the game itself :)

Trying to figure out all of the angles tho, like in deathmatch mode to 25 kills. Some guys get it in a minute or two and I cannot figure out what their advantage is. I, and most of the others players, have 5-10 kills when they get to the 25. Sux.

Anywho, I was thinking of putting together an ENWorld Lan party, but wanted to see if anyone was interested first. Make it a recurring thing, a few times a week. I will host it, inless someone else offers that has a bigger, badder computer (me 1.4ghz with 512 ram and a GeForce 2 card)

Anyone interested?

We play 2003 at work. Occassionally we play the Onslaught game in the 2004 demo. I love it. Today I saw the other team was getting the powernode where tanks are built. I jumped in a raptor, flew over there and as soon as the tank appeared I blew it up before the guy who built the power node could jump in it...Then I killed him too. :D

I think that's what Onslaught brings to the FPS. A level of strategic thinking that I haven't seen in other games.

Alright, if you figure out how to organize this, I'm game.

Onslaught is great. The Raptor is great. I stick to the Raptor and Tank now, and I always pack an Avril (only true anti-raptor weapon besides certain turrets), Lightning Rifle or Sniper Rifle (depends on game mode), and some form of in your face gun like a flak, mine, or minigun.

At first I thought the light vehicles were too good, always running over people. Then I figured out that you can almost always dodge even the best runnover, and they die in one or two avrils.

And I just got my first ludicrous kill, and a couple monsters. Very difficult to pull off on big maps though. Assault is pretty damn fun, but since there is only one map, it gets rather boring.

Yet, all this enjoyment, and I'm still not sure if I want to buy this game...

I want to buy it, but fundage is low, so I may have to wait until it starts to drop in price. sux

As for the ENWorld Unreal Clan, I will try to get something together, maybe starting with a dedicated msg board site for discussing what to do.

Maybe we should make a general ENWorld Gaming Clan, not just focus on Unreal? Hmmmmm
