Warlock's Curse, Fey Pact and a Bag o'Rats...

Is no one else bothered by the ability itself?
you kill someone so bamf! you teleport? what's the connection?
I know the fey are supposed to be whimsical but that beats walking around with a bag of rats.
did i miss something? was some justification given?

*snerk* Here in the office we call it "a bag of kobold babies" and isn't it nice that there's a section in the DMG that discusses legitimate targets, to address exactly this kind of thing?

;)

It is indeed most welcomed. ;)

Anti-teleport magic better be common, or the world is doomed.

Given that a fair amount of previous dev commentary has been focused on not letting teleport powers break the game, I'm reasonably confident that any sort of tactical teleportation power like fey step will require line of sight and line of effect to the target square--which means any town that sees a sizable population of eladrin probably keeps at least one windowless stone cell in its local jail. :)

The justification is that strikers need alot of mobility on the battlefield, because alot of their powers (like Warlock's Curse) require strategic positioning.

As far as the roleplaying justification, well, "it's magic." And as we've seen from Eladrin, Fey seem to really enjoy teleporting around in this edition. ;)

Hmmm. Looking forward to seeing if it's some sort of objective definition which makes world sense, or just an admonition to DMs about how the rule is "supposed" to work and the "spirit" of it, and charging them with deciding, arbitrarily, if a target is "legitimate" or not...

One way doesn't lead to a lot of arguments around the table, and one does....

To be honest, I reckon if you grabbed a rat and stashed it in a bag with a bunch of other rats, then lugged the bag around wherever you went, took it into combat, etc, then from the rat's point of view you'd become its enemy pretty damn fast...
