D&D 5E What Subclasses and races are still missing?

I find the bloat obsession to be counter productive.

I don't think it's an obsession, I prefer to look at it as a "lessons learned" from the previous 3 editions. But what exactly would you say keeping bloat down is counterproductive to? I think that controlling it has done a good job of keeping the game accessible for new & casual players along with keeping the decision paralysis that can arise in some manageable (especially since until recently there weren't official electronic tools to help create and manage character options). It's also probably helped the game be more profitable as wasted effort on niche products that don't generate a good RoI isn't happening... but I'm curious what you see as the downside of keeping bloat in check?

Races

2e Tieflings
Bariaur
Githzerai/Githyanki
Kalashtar
Shifter
Warforged
Changelings
Thri-Kreen
Half-Giant (though this one is a nice to have since I think the Goliath could sub in)
Minotaurs
Kender (Yes I know they annoy people but for those who want to use them in a DL game I think they should be available)

Classes
Psionic classes

We haven't even gotten the subclasses in the fall book (and are uncertain what those subclasses are going to be) and we're already thinking ahead to future subclasses... likely in a 2020 or 2021 product?!?

I mean haven't been even covered by an UA even.

Yuan Ti Sorceror Origin.
Trapper Rogue
Urban Druid
Oath of Liberation Paladin
Slaadi Pact Warlock
Beauty Domain Cleric
Shia'ar Wizard
Military Surgeon Fighter
Mists Ranger
Tattooed Barbarian
Sacred Fist Monk
College of Theology Bard
I've seen almost all of them. If you're not looking for homebrew, you really should be.

What about what other people want or are you the only other person in the world.

I'm sorry, I thought we were just giving our own opinions. I didn't know everyone's posts in this thread were speaking for everyone else on the planet.

Also, churning out bloat was the biggest factor that led to TSR going belly up*, so it very much is NOT counter productive.

*A company putting out a ton of material that hardly anyone buys or uses costs money, all the way from the design, creation, and distribution costs.

Sorry if I over reaction, it's just a pet peeve of mine.

I'm betting on a book with more subclasses in fall 2018.

You actually kind of got more 2e tieflings in the tiefling variants in SCAG + the tiefling feat in XGTE coming out.

I'm betting on a book with more subclasses in fall 2018.

With all the dozens of potential book topics (magic items, psionics, epic level play, planar adventures, customizing monsters, alternate genres, a FR campaign Setting, environmental book, alternate magic, hacker's guide) why would they do two books with generic subclasses in a row?

I'm not. I suppose I should really expand a bit. With the way 5e is structured with feats and backgrounds, I can already pretty much cover any archetype I've wanted. I don't want to see class/subclass bloat. I think it dilutes things too much. Especially if it's the official WoTC team doing it. I wouldn't want them to spend the time and energy to keep churning out subclasses that only a tiny number of people would actually play. I'd much rather see more short adventure modules, or more feats. Speaking of, I would be totally for additional feat packages, because that's all I really think you need. Of course this is just by opinion. As far as I can see, there is really only one missing class: a psionic one. That's about it. Everything else could be a racial or general feat package, IMO.

I'm on board with this.
