What edition do you intend to primarily run?

Perhaps someone has already posted this question as a poll somewhere, but I don't see it . . .

So, if you had to choose today, with all you know about the new material coming out, which edition do you intend to primarily run?

I don't choose the game I intend to run in a general sense. I run campaigns with a desire for specific themes and flavors, and I choose the system and edition based on how well it delivers what I want.

If I run anything, it's like to be Star Wars Saga, but since I'm not the D&D DM for my group now, I think I can safely say that if I run D&D, it'll be 4e.

Actually much of my focus is on non-d&d options such as Savage Worlds or Star Frontiers, and when I try to game fantasy again I will likely try Basic Fantasy rules as a lead in for my children to begin play with. After a few more years I might re-evaluate the options again with consideration for what is available at that time.

A mix of True20 and Omni System...with a rule here or there from everything from SWSaga to Basic, from Stargate d20 to Alternity, from Arcana Evolved to Pathfinder, and my own home-made stuff.

Barring buying the occasional adventure from the third party companies I trust, I have every conceivable rule system I'll ever need, and a WALL of adventures for multiple genres - it's just a matter of using the ones I like together.

House ruled 3.5 with a ton of OGL stuff incorporated.

I already have tons of stuff for 3.5 to run (War of the Burning Sky, Castle Blackmoor, Coils of Set, Shades of Grey, lots of DCCs and Monkeygod modules, etc.), tons of neat monsters and campaign settings and classes for a variety of games, and I enjoy playing and running 3.5. 4e is still very much an open question in my mind and I'd have to buy stuff for it and do conversion work to use my old stuff.

I will learn 4th edition so I can design for it, and I will play some 4E games so I'm competent with it, but unless it really knocks my socks off, Pathfinder will probably the the way we go for the game I run at home.

Of course right now we're running True20 with Reign of Discordia, so it might be a while before we get back into D&Dish type stuff.

None of the above. Otherwise known as 'it depends'. Case by case, contextual, you get the idea.

Also. . . brand loyalty for its own sake, or any of its close cousins, actually tends to irritate me, and it's certainly not something I would like to succumb to.

So, IOW, I don't much care what I end up running. Or playing. As long as it's fun, for all involved. And why should it be predetermined anyway.

It's highly likely, as things stand currently, that I'll be running some M&M, and maybe some True20, and very likely indeed something a little more 'rules-light' for the occasional thing here and there. But who knows? I don't, not 100% for sure.

Except I do know for absolute certain that I won't be purchasing anything from WotC ever again, let alone 4th edition D&D. So I guess that means it's pretty much a given that I won't be running that. And I'd much prefer never to have to play it either. It seems I won't (no-one I know or know of IRL is buying it either) so, good. :)
