As Escella and the person they have just rescued continue their attacks up the staircase, Tommi can only watch.

The wizard is familiar to Tommi, though. "Morgan? Morgan...Wells?" he asks. "I think you know my mother. It's... I'm Tommi, Jyn's boy." Most people in Daggerford had used his mom's apothecary for one thing or another.

"Jyn!"

Of course he recognized the name, Who from Daggerford wouldn't? Morgan's parents were avid worshipers of Chantea and his mother was a herbalist who often sold rare plants to the townsfolk and Morgan, often, tagged along. While she traded with various magical healers and priests, in his youth, it was Jyn who Morgan enjoyed visiting the most. It would be an understatement to say she had influenced his desire to be a doctor. He didn't know Tommi particularly well but he knew him well enough to be happy to see him.

Tommi. I look forward to the opportunity to catch up....when things settle down..." He glances at the ghostly hand strangling the gnoll.

@Kobold Stew I'm not sure how old Jyn or Tommi are. Dr. Wells is almost 30.
Edit: also, let me know if there's anything you think I should add or modify.

It's probably as good a time as any to post my character in the rogues gallery.

Lionel had noted the gnoll struggling in the web and thought that he could take him out with a well-aimed shot. But the brutal flind was right in front of him and that scared Lionel. He let the bolt fly but the flind dodged Vairar's spear causing Lionel to miss and the bolt lodged itself in the far wall. Lionel cursed in a way his mother would not have approved and then darted past the flind towards the fireplace reloading his crossbow.

Attack: Crossbow attack, plus damage and sneak attack: 1D20+7 = [8]+7 = 15
1D8+4+3D6 = [7]+4+[2, 1, 2] = 16
, MISS! (Lionel should have aimed for the webbed gnoll, right? 😝)
Bonus Action: Disengage
Move: Lionel squeezes past flind to BY33 — I think there is space. If not, he will remain in CC35. Actually, since Lionel is Small, Halfling Nimbleness would apply! (You can move through the space of any creature that is of a size larger than yours.)
Reaction: Uncanny Dodge, if attacked.

Legend
Tommi and Morgan had known each other through their respective mother's interactions, (Morgan was a few years older than Tommi, but they had met here-and-there in their youth, before Morgan had left Daggerford for his apprenticeship in Waterdeep.) Here, in this strange situation, they found themselves reunited.

Escella sent two eldritch bolts past both fellows up the stairs. One struck the feral-looking gnoll, while the other hit the ceiling instead, raining chips of plaster down among the group crowded at the top of the stairs.

The dwarves and Vairar jostled with each other, while Lionel ducked past the big gnoll and found himself alone in what once may have been a nice sitting room at the top of the stairs. A clogged old fireplace and two moldered stuffed chairs (now damp and covered in gnoll-hairs - much worse than a dog's) were there, but most of the room was taken up with Morgan's web-spell.

A gnoll was caught in the webs, and his struggles just served to gather more webbing around himself - though it may have pulled some strands away from the door at the far end, for with one hard pull, the Red Wizard inside managed to free the door from the webs enough to get it open. His bald, tattooed head peeked out and ducked back in, staying behind cover for now.

OOC: Lionel & Vairar missed; Escella did 5 & Morgan did 7 to "Flind"; Gnoll's still stuck, but Red Wizard managed to open the door in spite of the Web spell (took his action, though!); @Neurotic Lunn & @JustinCase Helgrim (I'll do Grottur & Flind then, too).

Neurotic

I plan on living forever. Or die trying.
TL;DR: failed the save, attacks with disadv (if needed) hit for 11 and 11, flind needs to roll con save dc 15 or be blinded and take 5 radiant damage

OOC: @FitzTheRuke Lun took only half damage from the flail attack (rage resistance)

JustinCase

the magical equivalent to the number zero
”A red wiz’rd?!” Helgrim curses something foul in Dwarven, then looks towards the door to the study.

”Careful, lads,” he cautions, ”Them mages’re a dang’rous sort.”

Carefully the ancient dwarf inches closer, shield raised, ready and eager to charge at the Thayan spellslinger as soon as the way is clear.

Tommi looked at Morgan with warm recognition, as he heard the gnoll screaming upstairs as he smelled the burning fur. "Settle down, right." he says.

Hearing the door upstairs being pried open, Morgan shouts,

"Thegger, don't do anything hasty. This isn't the time for desperate acts!"

No action yet, just anticipating my next action: to talk the red wizard into surrendering.

Legend
Grottur and Helgrim moved around the feral gnoll, distracting it for Lunn and working their way toward the wizard. Lunn lashed out with a flash of light that blinded the big gnoll just long enough for the half-orc to put it down. For a brief moment, the top of the stairs were clear of the chaos of battle.

The red wizard called, "I see you have found your rescue, Morgan! I have little control over these savage beasts. Our alliance was tenuous, at best. There is little I can do to negotiate for peace."

As he said this, the doors to the south flew open, and more howling gnolls emerged.

OOC: Lunn blinded & killed the "flind". Grottur & Helgrim move up.
