I do really like the idea of ignore lists resetting every so often. Or that an ignore switch lasts for a default set of time before needing to be reset. My list is probably due for a review - thanks for the reminder.

It probably matters more when your bar for putting people on it is relatively low; I've had a grand total of three people on mine since I've been here, one of whom got escorted out by management and one of whom escorted themselves out (at least I'm assuming from internal evidence). But I've seen people mention doing so for transitory reasons (which, to be clear, doesn't seem unreasonable as they've unpacked it) and otherwise have a more sensitive trigger, and I'd think it might warrant revisiting more often when someone does that.
(I'm excluding here people ignoring people who seem to be doing certain sorts of dogwhistles and the like; though I don't feel the need I'm not going to fault not wanting to wait around until the board moderation notices and takes action it).
I IL some people because of ME as much a them. There are just some posters with whom I have friction, for no discernable reason, and I will IL those just to try and make not only my experience here better, but theirs as well (and, I assume, by extension everyone elses.)
I do like the idea of having a "30 day" or whatever option on the IL list.

I try not to do it just because of friction (because I think in those cases I should try and work on it myself) but you're not going to get me to say your approach here is wrong.
At the least it might be useful for people who sometimes use it for a cooling-off period.
I’ve done the reset thing a few times too but inevitably it’s the same people who end up back on it almost immediately.
