Hi Psion! :)

If you are proposing alternate mechanics (see title of thread), it goes in house rules.

We are not proposing - just discussing, but I see what you mean Psion.

Perhaps one of the moderators will move the thread?

Go bother someone else, its one topic my god. You know no one reads the house rules forum and theres no reason to get mad about nothing!

No need to be rude mate - I am sure Psion only has the boards best interests at heart!

Its no real trouble having a moderator move the thread to the house rules forum.

A proper strength increase? Man im confused again. What do you mean?

Well if you penalise larger creatures more (with BAB) you will need to balance them in other areas.

If you double strength for lifting you should also double it for damage as well.

Okay what about this.

You divide BAB by:

1/2 (+1 Size category)
1/4 (+2 Size categories)
1/8 (+3 Size categories)
1/16 (+4 Size categories)
etc.

Another point to remember is that we are no longer adding strength to BAB - just damage.

Armour Class will be lower because we won't be adding Natural Armour/Armour to AC - Armour will become Natural Damage Reduction.

I still need to work out how much we should modify strength - offhand I imagine it should be the reverse of the BAB modifier!?

eg. Huge Giant
Divide BAB by 4
Multiply Strength/Damage by 4

I wonder can we avoid multiplying hit points?

But if you did that, say 10 hp = -1 constituion, you'd have to link advancement in hp and ability points. otherwise you'd run out of hp too fast.

What you want to do is introduce some other way of avoiding damage. Something like a Parry or Dodge roll. Armour as DR would work as well.

Some people don't like these kinds of systems; I do, because it means you get to do something while the DM is rolling, rolling, rolling for those orcs that have you surrounded!

Is Psion a Moderator?...

If not, then it's not his problem if this thread is posted in the wrong forum, and making comments about it will just start trouble.

If he is...Then move it..

People need to remember..The best thing about D&D is that it's suppose to be simple. It's a fantasy game. Somethings don't add up?..So what. It's a game sit back and enjoy...Making little changes here or there is find, but if you start changing the core mechanics (Hit Points, Magic..) then it ceases to be D&D....

I just don't understand why people have to anylze every little thing....sit back and enjoy the game.
