It seemed like a weak episode, though it ended strongly. I'm not convinced that Helo would turn like that.

I found the final scene with Baltar and the Chief to be touching, too.

I didn't think it was a weak episode at all.

I felt there was a lot of build up of underlying tension that was laying the charges for an explosive episode coming soon. It has really built up my anticipation.

It was better than last week's episode, though the plot advancement still feels like butter being scraped over too much bread, to quote a certain hobbit.

Interestingly, Baltar is suddenly acting brave. He's gone from a cowardly man to someone who is acting in a fashion that does seem to be a bit of a break from the past for him. Not entirely - but incrementally in a very perceptible way.

His entire motivation for all of this seems odd though.

Both Baltar and Starbuck are just starting to annoy me.

The only real highlight of the episode was when Tyrol went Homer Simpson on Baltar. I was hoping he'd give Baltar much more of a well-deserved beating than he did, and I absolutely hated the part at the end when he reached out to Baltar. I just wish Baltar would die already and not appear in any more episodes.

As for Baltar's motivation, I think at this point he's starting to believe his own rhetoric. It appeals to his ego to think he is some kind of messiah. Plus he has a horde of attractive female worshippers, and is starting to gain real power again. Why reach out to Tyrol? Simple - remember what Tory told him about how he had yet to gain "important people" as followers.

I completely believe it. First off, orders from Galactica (ie, Adama) were to join back with the fleet at a certain time or be left behind. Kara was going to ignore this order. Second, jumping into a basestar at the behest of a Cylon whose major characteristic is manipulation is simply ludicrous. While we know the events Leoben said really happened, the crew of the Demetrius does not.

Its important to note that Helo only acted against Starbuck when she (finally) violated the direct orders of Galactica Actual; he supported her (even reluctantly) up until then. Helo have very consistently been very law-and-order in the series.

Yup. Captain Starbuck was acting irrationally, but Helo supported her until she decided to ignore the rendez-vous and was putting the crew and potentially the fleet in imminent danger by ordering them to approach a basestar on the word of a cylon.

Seems like pretty clean cut justification for Helo to relieve her of command.
