Battlestar Galactica: Season 2 Part 8; NSCR/9.9.2005

Unfortunately, I knew about D'Anna Biers being a cylon before watching. I must have unintensionally read a spoiler about it somewhere so no shock for me at the end. :(

But, it was still a good ep. I know there is a bunch of speculation (here and on other boards) about how the cylons relay info from the human models to each other over long distances and I've pretty much just let it slide. I assume that in time we'll get a direct answer to exactly how it's done. Until then I just assume that they have the tech to do it right 99% of the time.

It was interesting to see the grunts get a share of the spotlight for a bit, especially Dee, Gaita and Kat. Even Tigh got a moment of "glory" which he doesn't get nearly enough of. This season has really answered my question of why the cylons are keeping the humans around. It was a minor theme all along but I guess it really started to click when we saw Starbuck in the pregnancy farm on Caprica. The humans are obviously being studied on all levels. They have reduced humans to basically being in a fishbowl (the fleet) and are toying with everything from basic and carnal emotions to more complex ones like love and betrayal. It makes it easier for me to watch, really.

I like the idea of different factions within the cyclons. They are probably both working towards the same goals but in different ways. Too bad there are only a 2 eps left (Flight of the Phoenix & Pegasus) until they break for mid-season.

Just watched it last night.

Only thing that bugged me was that I was yelling at the screen for Adama to have Biers searched when he was leaving the infirmary. I hate it when everyone knows what's going to happen except the characters. That was one of those moments for me.

Sure she had swapped the real footage, but why would he search her when he gave the tape back to her anyway? He decided to trust her to do the right thing rather than fuel her mistrust of the crew by playing the heavy (foolish human ;) ).

Edited - Offering pirated material on the boards? Not good, AQ. After the roasting you got on the Firefly thread, I'd have thought you'd have figured that out. This'll cost you a few days off the boards. - Morrus

Just didn't get that feeling from it. If he really wanted to shoe trust then he should have given her the tape back and trusted her not to use the footage.

I agree that the idea with the two raiders is that they were relaying the video, but what I don't get is how they managed to relay what was happening on the bridge after they were blown up.

They had two seperate things - the finished piece, which was shown all over the fleet, and thus easily gotten, and the unedited Boomer-vid, which had to be gotten out via the raider relay - probably a more secure, low-power transmission.
