BattleStar Galactica:Season 3.0--12/08/06--Arc 9

I loved that game. Many a time I heard "Elf shot the food." The only problem was I was playing the elf. :(

But seriously didn't anybody actually watch the episode?

I did enjoy it but I had a couple of problems with it.

Mainly that Cat was not really Cat but someone else. And Starbuck fell another few notches down (I didn't think there were any lower levels but I seems that the Abyss really is infinite- I always thought there were only 666 but thats for another thread in a diferent forum) but she became more likeable in her last scene with Cat. Just a little. That's one frakked up person.

I also didn't like the crossing aspeck. I'll have to watch the episode again I might have missed something with all the talking in the room while the episode was going on. I wonder how many ships were lost- I'm looking forward the Survivor count next episode.

Lastly, and this may be trivial but are they using the Greek and Roman names for the Lords interchangebly since we know that Zeus was a Lord and he was Hera's husband but in this episode Baltar sayes it's Jupiter. I know that I shouldn't expect an exact match to Earth mythology but since they already use Zeus why not keep consistent. Though I will admit since we use the Roman names for our planets Jupiter sounds more celestrial then the "Eye of Zeus"; but it would have been funnier if they had use the "Eye of the Cyclops"... but that may just be me.

Well we know that Hotdog lost his ship on the 1st run. 1 ship.

In Cat's last run she's determined not to lose another implying that she lost one of her own earlier but it might not mean that. Possible 2nd ship.

Apollo's talk to the pilots seems like they were losing one here one there but I'll only add a possible 3rd ship here.

Helo looked like he was pretty upset at one point and my group took it as he lost one. Possible 4th ship.

Hey that's why I asked the question and am looking forward to the next Survivor Count. :)

I guess Athena was too sick to fly anymore after her scouting mission because I didn't see her anymore in the episode or at least flying.

Overall, I thought this episode was OK (mainly because I couldn't stand Kat and it was fairly predictable). Her drug-running supplier looked familiar, anyone know what else he was in?

Now that Tigh is back on the command deck, I'm curious to see where Helo ends up (promotions on Galactica seem to last ten minutes; look what happened to Apollo :) .)

If you look on the chart, he's under Starbuck's command in the hierarchy.

A while back I decided not to watch this show anymore.
Last night I wasn't doing anything while waiting for Dr Who to come on so I watched again - I now know why I dislike this show so much.

Starbuck.

This version of the character is completely unlikable to me, while the original Satrbuck was one of my favorite characters as a kid. This characterization of Starbuck overshadow's any thing else I might like about the show.

Oh well, I'll just have to catch Dr Who earlier so I'm not tempted to watch again :)

I see where you're coming from. I also tend to dislike character, but on the other hand, I still find her interesting, so I am not put off by her. On top of that, the story and the other characters are to fascinating and intriguing to me to pass this one up. I absolutely love BSG. :)

This episode featured a good example why such a good cast of characters can be useful.

In any other show, an established character might have made a decision like Kat and risk his life, but then the authors would need a way to let the character escape the death since they can't just change their cast so easy.
With a secondary (but still prominent) character like Kat, they could actually give her decision a meaning: She was not only willing to give her life, she actually did it. Again, in BSG, actions have consequences...

I found the conversation and findings of Baltar and Three very interesting - seems to propel us towards the mid-season ending, and I am eager to find out what will happen next - like always. :)

Which was what? (Honest question.) I didn't really get what chick-in-the-tank (and what's her point, again? Something about the computer that calculates jumps? Or is it something more than that... seems pretty inefficient, whatever she is) was mumbling about, and I didn't really follow Baltar's "translation". (During that conversation, Three also mentioned something about how the cylon god and human gods were somehow connected, but I didn't understand how she came to that line of thought.)

Could anyone provide a synopsis/explanation for those of us who don't really get the mysticism mumbo-jumbo of BSG?

(And yeah - Starbuck makes BSG a little less enjoyable to watch. Hate her.)
