D&D General Bought a brick of the 50th Anniversary minis :(

I got a 3D printer a few years back. Probably cheaper in the long run and if I want duplicates, it's just a copy/paste away. Before that I always just use sites like minisgallery like @Warpiglet-7 mentioned.

Now my problem is lack of storage space.
I made it decorative!

I have a lot glass cases that have lights in them…it’s my nerd haven down in their space!

I have an old 3D printer. It’s so fussy I sort of gave up on it. Newer ones though…no question they are a cheap alternative to upainted minis…

I paint some but struggle so hard to find time. I build some terrain and buy prepainted minis.

Correct, random boosters are one of the worst things that ever happened to gaming.

its just gambling. I have learned to buy what I want on the secondary market.

They have some packages that are not blind but man do you pay for it (e.g. war bands of orcs or kobolds etc.).

They know what they are doing. I will say it feels like a fleecing but nothing is worse than blind box pay to win games…

Now I really have no reason to paint them :'(

It's funny - for me it was the painting that was the whole attraction. Sadly, I found my free time to paint wasn't sufficient for the number of minis I wanted, and having a huge stack unpainted was a burden. So after my last defeat of the grey tide I swore off buying any new ones.

But painted minis have never really appealed to me, since they're skipping the fun bit. :)

I forget who it was, but someone on here coined a rule concerning minis: you can have a good selection, you can have reasonable prices per mini, and you can have non-random - pick two. The random boosters are the price we pay for getting a good selection at decent prices. (And, as noted, if you really want specific minis, at least there's the option of buying those, at the obvious premium.)

Exactly. The individual booster is cheap, but you must buy so many to get the rares, it costs more than a traditional miniature game.

I've seen adults cry because the full box of boosters they bought didn't contain the rare mini they wanted. On the other hand, a boy came in, bought just one booster of the new DC Clix series by Wizkids and gets the super rare Superman mini of the set! An adult player in the store tried to buy it from him for $20 when it was worth at least $100. I told the kid not to do it. He listened to me.

Boosters are bad.

I recently converted two glass-front cabinets and made a terraced display using some leftover hardboard insulation we had. It barely fit all the minis I already had. Not including the plastic minis I also own, those are still in boxes.

Probably going to need to build some wall shelves at some point, just hesitant because I'd want to have glass enclosure and not sure my carpentry skills are up to it.

I have zero carpentry skills! But thought about a high up shelf—-6 feet up—-to hold overflow. I have some peasants and pc minis in cases but am displaying all monsters.

The ship and ancient dragon I have to dust…hey are unfortunately too big to fit.

But as to shelves and dust…I thought about putting those shelves up high and buying clear plastic boxes to put over the minis…might be a stretch.

What I am using for lights now are cheap remote controlled lights from wal mart…I have tired lights in most cases but have just relied on the cheap battery operated ones for a while.

I love minis at the table but also to just look at! I work from home a couple days a week and when I am taking abuse over the phone or video my treasure possessions are just to the side :)

Ikea is my go-to. They have full glass displays and cabinets with glass doors. I'm good at carpentry but the cost and time is just not worth it compared to a glass door Billy cabinet:
