Cost of armor that can change shape with you

Since when does a dragon not have an "armour" slot?

I was under the impression that you'd be able to pull off your trick using nothing more than a wilding clasp (MoTW, 2000gp) - IIRC, it states that the item clasped changes to be appropriate to your new form.

Doesn't magical armor resize to fit its wearer anyway? Do you want the armor to be seen (e.g., that dragon has full plate covering all of his hide and is visible to the players)?

There's another modifier for armor in OA (I don't have it with me, but am doing it from memory.) It's one that allows you to keep your armor bonus and it's enhancement bonus, both. It's a +2 modifier. It's on something like page 146ish, right side, across from Shapeshifting armor.

(Stupid book is all the way downstairs.)

Always been that way. Basically, only humanoids, monstrous humanoids and some shapeshifters (humanoid) get to use equipment. The ones that can't are: aberration, animal, beast, magical beast, construct, dragon, elemental, ooze, some outsiders, plant, some undead creatures, some shapechangers or vermin).

Basically, if you're not humanoid in appearance, you don't get equipment slots at all.

Thanks. I hadn't seen that before. :)

Not that much, it doesn't. :D

Preferably. Though it's not full plate, since that would really screw with his speed. ;)

There's also the Wild ability in MotW: it's +3 and the weapon retains it's armor and enhancement bonuses. The armor does melt into the other form.

Yup. That's the one that Ferret mentioned earlier.

Yes, its called Wild. Its a +2 modifier. But it only works for Wild Shape.

WOW! +6?

I have a natural werewolf NPC who has some leather armor that just shifts so it doesn't explode when she goes from Human/hybrid form, and I considered it just +1 bonus.

No, no, no. The enhancement bonus on the Shapeshifter's armor is +6, but the shapeshifting effect is just added on top of that. It's a unique suit of armor, but the shapeshifting effect is just a bonus effect, not like an enhancement with a market price modifier.
