The Superbowl commercial for the upcoming movie Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves has been released in advance. The movie comes out on March 31st.

Hyperbole. The Forgotten Realms is chock full of greatest evils, but characters within the setting don't know about them all.

On the whole, the greatest evil is whatever the current one is. The ones in the past have already been stopped from destroying the world, and the ones in the future are irrelevant if the current one destroys the world.

Also, I gather the villain is, ultimately, Thay? Thay makes a really solid case for greatest perennial evil on Faerun. There have been more acute threats throughout history, and certainly bigger, more existential or metaphysical threats, but Thay is just kind of always there, chugging away in the background, still handcrafting traditional hickory smoked evil the way your grandpa liked it.

Yup, the trailers shoe Szazz Tam himself: apparently the main plot is thst the Red Wizards got a Bad News MacGuffin, the characters are working to stop them.

I haven’t seen it done with a wild magic sorcerer, but i did have a session 1 tpk in 3rd edition when every single party member failed Climb checks and fell to their deaths on the way to the first dungeon.

That would have been a short movie.

Pregame wouldn't be the seven mil, probably only 4 or so. Also they'd probably only have about 40 million viewers.

Paramount is also having huge streamers, not D&D, but actual massive streamers, host Superb_Owlbear parties throughout the game.
