Interesting... but I don't see it competing seriously with mutants and masterminds.

Heck, if they do it the way I think they'll do it, (in other words, advanced classes like Blaster, Brick, etc.) then I know I'll be proselytizing M&M instead of d20SH. The author (whoever is picked ) has been chosen to hoe ONE TOUGH ROW. I wish them well, and I'll try to keep an open mind.

I guess I'd rather see something like the mutation system...a certain number of "Power Points" equals a +1 ECL adjustment...although one or more "Super Hero" advanced classes geared toward mastering one's powers and granting bonus Power Points would complement that approach.

Hook this up with the Pulp Heroes from d20 Past, and JPL is in Golden Age nerd heaven.

I'm excited to see their spin on it, but they have a tough act to follow with M&M. Still, it can't hurt to have more than one product out there.

*squeaky voice, waves hand in a 'pick me, pick me' fashion*

Don't forget the first d20 Modern superhero book!

Four-Color to Fantasy

Even I -- who wrote a supers d20 book - will admit that Mutants & Masterminds is better for standard comic book style superheroes. To make d20 Modern work for supers, you have to change the rules a good bit, or add a bunch of new rules to handle things normal people just don't do. Because d20 Modern is the ruleset for action movies that involve normal people. M&M is about Super-Heroes.

Still, I feel good having beaten them to the punch by 3 years.

Man, go pick up blood and vigilance from RPGobjects. It plugs right in on top of d20 modern (and d20 past for that matter).

I've long wanted to run a pulp supers game with pulp heroes and vigilance, but just can't find a group...but i'm 100% sure b&v would work perfectly in that system.

Chuck Rice already has enough of my money. ;)

Besides, I'm just finishing a secret project that pimps Blood and Vigilance.

Seriously, WotC should hire Chuck to write "d20 Martial Arts" based on Blood & Fists.

Obviously the creation of this product by the mysterious "Wizards of the Coast" is yet another attempt to create a Secret Hypertime Contest of Infinite Hours. We, the assembled Heroes of Mutants & Masterminds shall not allow it! Revenger Legion Assemble!

I gotta stop readin' so many comic books ;)

Truth is, while curious, M&M is the be all and end all for me as far as the genre goes. I would be extremely surprised and twice as impressed if they can pull off a product half as good as M&M.

Ah yes, and so it begins.

An Amazon link expressing the MERE future existence of this product, having the audacity to attempt to rival M&M like it does causes this reaction ("can't compete" ... "lucky if it's half as good")?

I cant wait for the endless flame wars that will occur when the product actually appears.

I think anything wotc puts out will compete with any 3rd party pub just fine.

I just wish they would add these supplements to the SRD! or at least some sections.
