Leonan steps back from the corpse taken aback by sudden death.

"OK...this was weird...er than usual. Gnome, kidnapping and old machine? They go together like logic and magic. But it makes kind of weird sense."
He takes a deep breath collecting his thoughts.
"I get it! It's not an old machine. It is the machine of the Old One, you know, creature of maddness. So, the gnome created or uncovered some machine. This one worked on it or had taken it over when the gnome disappeared. We need to check his workshop. And gnomes house and workshop too."

He turns to the captain of the guard. "Sorry for the mess, it just got more complicated if this machine or creature can prevent people from talking about it. We'll be on our way - we'll check the smithy and surroundings. Did Felix keep another dwelling or workshop in addition to the house we were in? How about this one?"

 

[Azurewraith]

The captain shakes his head "Aldan lived in the edge of the living quarters, I shall have to inform his wife" the bearded goliath sighs heavily as he stands... Well stoops. "I don't like this one bit this is getting serious, there are rumours of something old living in the caverns beneath this place I always had it down as baseless heebeejebee. You may want to check Aladan's house I'll 'ave Rufus accompany you and bring his widow here, when you ready."

 

[Neurotic]

"Express our deepest sympathies for her loss. It is unfortunate that he got caught up in this unsavoury business." Leonan nods
"We'll be back to inform you what we find in his smithy."

As the group leaves he asks the group
"It seems that whatever we're looking for is somewhere in the wild. We can check once more everything to see if can find the machine mentioned. But I fear we will go spelunking if we want to get to the bottom of this."

GM: seems no one has anything else to say so moving on.

You are escorted to the house of Aldan it is non descript and matches the other cottages found in the city. Rufus suggests you keep your distance until he can take the widow to see captain Bedrock. Finally the widow is escorted away and the door left unlocked awaiting your inspection.

 

[Neurotic]

"Careful. Don't disturb anything you don't have to. No sense in making the loss worse for the missus." Leonan enters and looks around, careful not to touch anything before looking through all the rooms.

Kaleth follows Leonan. He keeps an eye out for anything that might be out of place.

Everything looks well in order just a simple house spotless, clearly Aladan's wife is proud of her home. A set of shelves contains a interesting assortment of rocks ore and even a flowing fungus. There is a single locked door just off the side of the hall.

Leonan looks through the house, trying to find the key to the door.

"Anyone know to open the door without the key? And without breaking them?"

(We were accompanied here by a guard right?) Shavara says, "I'll ask the guard if he can go back to headquarters and inquire about a key to this room." She steps outside and does so.
