an alternate version of Yukio was in The Wolverine movie (2013) too, funnily enough while she is a minor supporting character, the comic book version has a long history with Wolverine
And Storm. It was after meeting Yukio that Storm turned into her best self, Punk Storm. And there's no way those two weren't doing the horizontal tango in between the frames.

I finally saw this film tonight. It was fun. The plot is utter nonsense and serious moments almost inevitably devolve into bathos, but there's no denying the chemistry between Jackman and Reynolds, and the supporting parts from the semi-forgotten (or never-was, in one case) Fox characters were fun. The fights were coco-bananas and enough jokes landed to keep me consistently entertained, which is all you need from something like this. We had a good time. 3/5 stars.

I hadn’t realized they are meant to be the same character. Thanks!

One constant irritant, for me, was the premise that the Deadpool movies and Logan are set in the same universe, and the events of Logan have already occurred. Like, that's the central concept of the plot: this timeline has lost its anchor character and is thus collapsing (in itself a ludicrous premise, but set that aside).

Logan is set in a dystopian near-future (consider the highway scene, for example) where mutants are all but extinct, Xavier was ancient and falling apart, and the few remaining mutants are hunted fugitives, whereas Deadpool is set in a world that resembles our own, and where the X-Men still live in the X-mansion and are heroes.

And how would everyone know about the events of Logan anyway? Like, it seems to be common knowledge and Wolverine is this giant hero because of it.

They didn't even attempt to hand wave the disjunction.

The only connection is they were both owned by 20th Century Fox at one point, and they’ve been teasing a bromance storyline for years. Beyond that, it’s about as serious as Airplane or Top Secret.

I don't believe in the no-win scenario

Thats sort of the shtick with Deapool and the 4th wall breaking. Many things are in dis-junction becasue the audience is in on the gags. However, is the TVA only able to cross timelines at this exact moment, or can they time travel too? Either way, im not defending it, I thought the movie was bad, but that multiverse TVA stuff allows for all kinds of lazy writing.

That’s been my issue with the Phase 4 story in a nutshell. It’s all been a lazy, confusing mess that just takes the viewer for granted that they’re going to show up at the theater to continue watching.

The universe in Logan isn’t so dystopian that Las Vegas doesn’t look suspiciously similar to our own (or Deadpool’s universe). So, exactly how dystopian it is, we don’t know. We also don’t know (or at least it arguably isn’t clear) how Deadpool’s instance in time matches with the time instance of Logan’s death. Given what the TVA is a profoundly time warped organization, Logan’s death could be in Wade’s future and still trigger the events of the story.

Edit: I guess it’s actually Oklahoma City and not Las Vegas. But the point is the same.
