Doh!

Wonko the Sane

First Post
One of the kids seems to have deleted the "Show Desktop" button on my quick launch bar, and I can't get it back.

Does anyone happen to know how to restore it? (Yes, the Recycle Bin is empty).

Thanks in advance.

Go to the directory similar to C:\Documents and Settings\<username or All Users>\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\

Create a new file in there named "Show Desktop.scf"

Open the file and paste the following in there:

[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

I'm very much liking TopDesk. I always have like 15 windows open at once, and this application makes Alt-Tab look like chopped kidney.

Display all window tiles multi-monitor FTW!

(Plus, if the OP removes the quicklaunch bar and switches to the desktop toolbar, he won't need to minimize all at all. Or drag the minimize all button to the desktop and have the best of both worlds.)

Interesting.

On the Microsoft site:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;301583

Microsoft natural keyboard shortcuts
• Windows Logo (Display or hide the Start menu)
• Windows Logo+BREAK (Display the System Properties dialog box)
• Windows Logo+D (Display the desktop)
• Windows Logo+M (Minimize all of the windows)
• Windows Logo+SHIFT+M (Restore the minimized windows)
• Windows Logo+E (Open My Computer)
• Windows Logo+F (Search for a file or a folder)
• CTRL+Windows Logo+F (Search for computers)
• Windows Logo+F1 (Display Windows Help)
• Windows Logo+ L (Lock the keyboard)
• Windows Logo+R (Open the Run dialog box)
• Windows Logo+U (Open Utility Manager)

If you have programs that can run in a "windowless" mode - that is to say, without a taskbar on the bottom - Win-D will minimize those, but Win-M will not. An example from my own computer is WinAmp, which I have running without a taskbar.
