Enterprise 10-29-04

On sorry it was average enough sweep episode. So much so that I found myself nitpicking again. Can phasers fire in warp? Where are the torps? Etc. Excuse me I leader let me just stand here while my brother stabs me twice, how many times have I seen this scene. Just once I would like the dead guy to try to block the knife thrust. I don’t watch Friday either due Joan on CBS or out shopping. It is beginning to look like I will be playing Evil Genius more and more than watching any sci-fi shows except for CSI.

What's up with allowing Soong to write reams and reams of thoughts out only paper only to "vaporize" them? Do you think they figure it's a good way to keep him busy? I caught the bit about not letting him have an electronic pad, but still, why allow the indulgence? I wonder if we'll find out down the road that they are actually studying his theories, and perhaps using them for other things (shades of Section 31?)
Well, maybe like you said it keeps him busy and out of trouble. But the Section 31 angle is interesting. He says the stuff is being destroyed, but it would be interesting to learn that someone is secretly using it. But then again too, humans in Star Trek are often fairly stupid, so it wouldn't surprise me.

Regarding the Vulcan wedding, Trip does ask T'Pol in passing about her honeymoon, though she blows off the question. I like the compass/gift given to her by Archer (for her promotion). [snip] Later, when T'Pol revisits the issue with Trip in sickbay, the ship is attacked before they can get very far into the subject. I wonder if Coto is going to keep using little tricks like that to keep them apart.
Well, her Vulcan husband is supposed to show up again in the Vulcan story arc that's coming after this one, so they're probably building up something there. I have the feeling that guy's going to get bumped off somewhere along the line too.

Jeffrey Pearce, the Enterprise crewman T'Pol calms down in the cage, might turn out to be a good secondary character if they allow him to get over his panic attacks. Selling for such a low price isn't going to help his self-esteem.
Having the Orion slave trader threaten to sell him as food won't help either.

It's also great to see Enterprise getting new recruits. They're big heroes now, and a lot of people are going to want to sign u for Starfleet. Maybe we'll see the return of red shirting, another great classic Trek element.

How many other ST races did you notice among the slaves and the buyers? I saw a few I thought I recognized but will have to do a little digging before I can be sure. Wasn't the one that bought T'Pol a Tellarite? Here's a place to get some help
Yeah, that guy was a Tellarite, but for other races I'd have to go back and look more closely.

I think it is interesting that the Augments aren't killing people left and right. Malik talks as if he wants to kill everyone and is calmed by Soong, but at no time when he is in battle with anyone does he use lethal force. I wonder if that is part of some creed they will reveal later.
Well, the Augments mention over and over something about "father's principles" or something. Obviously Soong had some sort of plans for them, and one that Earth found to be threatening. I'm sure whatever his master plan for them will likely come up next episode.

Actually that was Pike, and she wasn't really an Orion. She was human and made to looK Orion, in one of many roles, by telepathic aliens. Did they ever name the aliens in the Cage/Managerie?

I bow to your superior Knowledge: Original Star Trek skill check. :)
