Enterprise airs Tuesdays on a local independent station in my neck of the woods.

It's not a bad episode - kind of slow with very little in the way of surprises. I sort of had the whole story figured out in about 15 minutes, but that's nothing really new with episodic TV.

Pluses...

Vulcany goodness and a bit of character development.

Minuses...

Transparent plot line.

More whiny humans about Vulcan keeping them down.

Like I said, it's an ok episode which didn't irk me as much as the last one.

Interesting episode so far.

It seems that every episode with more than 2 Vulcans in it on Enterprise goes further and further into tearing down that pristine white image we have of them.

Hmmm. Here's a thought - vulcans only become pristine after they meet humanity.

This isn't as odd as you might think. The vulcans are not static. T'Pol's people don't know how to mind-meld, but Spock's do. Vulcans learn and change over time.

So, before humans, vulcans had to get by on their own. There's no Federation, not much cooperation between species. Becoming part of a greater whole allows vulcans to make another step in the path to their form of enlightenment. That's kind of the point of having an alliance, isn't it? Having someone to do things you cannot or would prefer not to do yourself?

Wouldn't that be a powerful lure to the vulcans, something making them want to join in a Federation with humans?

Hey...that's not a bad thought. I like it. It makes sense that there would have to be some benefit or reason for the Vulcans to join/co-found the Federation.

myrdden - Lucky (Early-Enterprise-Seeing) dawg! :D

Umb - Interesting idea. Might be part of their series bible to fold that into the plots over time.

Good Ep (MINOR SPOILERS)

Big shock: I liked it. :)

I liked the plot. It wasn't as transparent as I thought it would be. Not the deepest thing either, but it's one of those character-building episodes for Archer and T'pol. Acting was solid. I liked the guy playing the antagonist (forgot the character's name, but Bruce Davidson rocks).

The humor with Trip was great, too. I would have liked to have seen more of it. I particurlary liked the part about the water-polo score/Archer impersonation.

I liked the downplaying of Archer's resentment of the Vulcans. It was still there (as it should be) but there was very little of it. Since the plot was focused on T'pol and not the Vulcans specifically, it made sence.

And on a final note, I honestly thought they were going to turn it into an X-Files type thing where the Vulcan High Command forced T'pol to be brain purged, but that turned out to not be the case. The inner struggle was a good idea and Blalock pulled it off well. I could actually see how she was getting turned around and why she asked for help.

Good stuff. Sweeps rule.
