Epic Level Feats: I meet the pre-reqs, why can't I take it?

Adventurer
My character is only 8th level (Ftr5/Order of the Bow Initiate3). I know in the ELH it states that you can only take Epic Level Feats at level 21 or beyond. But what if I meet the pre-reqs now?

My Feat in question is Swarm of Arrows. The pre-reqs are Dex 23 (mine is 24), Point Blank Shot, Rapid Shot, Weapon Focus (Any bow). I have all those required feats. Am I the only one who thinks it's odd that an Epic Level Feat really isn't that "Epic" when it comes to its pre-reqs?

except that one of the pre req is : being an Epic Character !

Epic handbook is for epic character... only 12 levels left ...:D

That's okay. There one of the fighter feats in there that has a BAB 9+ Prereq. How stupid is that. This is supposed to be the book for level 21+ and it has a feat with a Prereq of BAB 9+. Those feats weren't exactly thought out fully.

Two things:

First: You don't meet all the pre-requisites as being level 21 is a pre-requisite.

Second: 24 dex at 8th level?

This post kind of sounds like a troll to me....

Just in case though, what makes epic level feats epic is at least in part the experience needed to make use of them, not the feats needed. By making it level limited instead of Bab limited it does not restrict Sorcerors from gaining the ability in their 20's...

What race are you?? With an 18 in Dex at first level, if you were an Elf that goes to 20...but it would only be up to 22 by 8th level. Either you've got a +4 Dex race, you did a point buy and spent a LOT on Dex, or you generate abilties interestingly...

natural 18 (easily done through point buy), Elf, 2 level raises at level 4 & 8, gloves of dexterity +2. I am not certain, but I think this might be the case. Calling him a troll is a bit silly, and downright insulting to boot.

In any case, the Epic level book is a lot of sillyness. Talk to your DM and ask whether he thinks the feat could be available earlier.

First off, I'm not a troll. It's an honest question. How did I get a 24 Dex at 8th level?

Initial Dex Attribute of 16. +2 because I'm an Elf for a total of 18. 8th level so I raised it 2 points, one at 4th and one at 8th, for a total of 20. I have Gloves of Dexterity +4 for a total of 24.

Secondly, I know one of the pre-req's is being 21st level. I learned to read a long time ago. My point was that, although these are epic level feats, given the pre-reqs listed with each feat, they just don't seem very "Epic." As Datt pointed out, a BAB of 9+? That just doesn't make much sense for a character who's supposed to be very experienced in adventuring matters.

Actually it has to due more with your DM. If he says yes, then go forth young adventurer, otherwise you can't take it.

IIRC, it states that stat prereqs are the base stat, not the stat modified by items... so you're a bit short on the Dex since the bonus from the gloves doesn't count ;)
